About this deal

Colonel Fury threatening to take Stark's technology away from him becomes a little bit more important later on. Also, from a fanboy's perspective, there was a bit which sent goosebumps up my spine, when Tony mentions Scott Lang's daughter Cassie. What I didn't realize is that it's mainly the one issue (the last in this collection) that deals with it.

While it was surprising to see the main topic of the story only gradually come to the fore, it made since in retrospect. The next day, after a lot of drinking, he tries to work, but he's unable to do so, so he just goes out to help some people, before he has to go protect a foreign ambassador. It's a bit heavy-handed, sure, and full of the flaws that all socially-conscious comic books of the 1970s had, but it's a solid story with surprisingly subtle characterization and a truly kickass female lead (where has Bethany Cabe gone in the comics? By the mid-‘90s Tony was actively going to Alcoholics Anonymous, and later became a sponsor for Carol Danvers.

A brilliant tale for Iron Man fans, and a must read for anyone even remotely interested in the man, the suit, or the mythos. What else does this offer, a Mary Jane clone and some cool villains who are treated like incompetent idiots. I have been a great Iron Man fan since my childhood, for his resourcefulness and intellect, but as an adult the most appealing factor is that Iron Man isn't the stereotyped, spandex-dressed hero, whose faith and moral virtues are unbreakable.

Roxxon wants Iron Man and Namor to fight with each other, but they figure things out and they destroy Roxxon's ships. Hammer escapes, and Iron Man flies into the air and crashes down, damaging the island and causing it to sink. This story really helped people overcome their own addictions, or understand people close to them that have an addiction themselves.This is one of the very rare stories where a status quo was changed—something very rare in superhero comics which loves resetting to the status quo.
