I wouldn't mind seeing non OIS lenses in the future, now, but they are pushing the industry and leaving many in the dust to play catch up. I was quite impressed with the 1080P output of the camera, and the 50Mbps XAVC S codec makes for a reasonable sized file that will survive all the way to broadcast, if necessary. is more about “I can more easily justify this purchase” than it is about actually going around using mount-adapted lenses all the time. if you *want* a narrow aperture and the camera doesn't feel it has enough light it will open up the aperture further.

I can see how a CDAF FF camera with such shallow DOF capability has enough difficulty to work with that the live view display settings are less than optimal (but perhaps CDAF on a FF sensor is already less than optimal). If you own a Leica m240 and can stand to use a camera body that’s relatively uninspired, go for the a7s.The negatives of the A7s are low priorities to me so I readily trade them out including lower resolution and slightly lower dynamic range at ISO 100. When I first purchased the a7s’s older brother the a7r months ago I had no idea what I would use it for… other than a cheaper alternative for my Leica lenses. Given the larger than average size of 7S pixels and its relatively new technology, it is logical to assume that the 7S Baseline ISO has to be higher than the average ISO100 sensor which features smaller pixels.

That’s because if you all remember from my Sony a7R II review I mentioned I wasn’t a fan of the larger bodied cameras and favor the 1st generation ones, so that’s why I got the 7S for this wedding. It certainly serves a unique purpose and does so well (actually two purposes: excellent low light work, plus strong video capability).

To get at the other question you're asking - pushes of other ISOs, our ISO-invariance test is actually a good proxy as it shows you the ISO beyond which there's no more benefit to performing the gain by increasing ISO in-camera. I fail to see how looking at the comparison of ISO 6400 as the target ISO is very useful given that noise is always more likely there in low light.
