stars, I did finish this book and for the most part found it to be a good read, but it didn’t wow me. I think if marketed towards those who are not into more disturbing or even younger thriller readers, it would be a much more successful book, as it seemed a bit off compared to my more dark thrilling reads. Overall, it was written pretty good, with some fun thrills, chills, and twists. I wouldn’t say it was unputdownable, but it was captivating enough to want to finish. I think that it had some really fast paced and hard for parents to read parts, but others were a tad too show for me. Overall, I think if you’re one who doesn’t want too much disturbing and dark content. This is your book! When it finally comes around to Daisy's birthday, after much hesitation, she does indeed have a sleepover at home and realises that she had no need to be so worried about having her friends around her sister. Sleepovers is a book about 5 girls, Amy, Bella, Chloe, Daisy, and Emily each going to each other’s houses for sleepovers on their birthdays. Amy and Bella are best friends. Chloe and Emily are best friends while Emily is left out. Daisy is the new girl at school. It was Emily whom she first met. She wished she could be Emily’s best friend. Poor Daisy. At almost everybody’s sleepover, she had sleep on the floor or a sleeping bag except at Emily’s. Chloe purposely pushed Daisy when they went out to the park and she scratched her knee. The friends were adventurous—entering their teenage years, they liked to explore. They were innocent. UNTIL the monster. HER. This was alright. The plot was the strongest aspect of this book. The mystery was good and I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the end reveal.I returned from Cairo to London obsessed with all things ancient and Egyptian. I learned to read hieroglyphs and began to haunt the British Museum like a very tall, notebook-wielding spectre. I discovered that the museum occasionally hosts sleepovers in its Ancient Egyptian sculpture gallery, a thrilling opportunity for children and an absolute gift to an author of adventure fiction. Chloe tries to not invite Daisy to her sleepover party by falsely claiming "her Mum won't let her have four invites", but Emily, Amy and Bella refuse to come unless Daisy comes too, causing an argument between them. In the end Chloe gives in and lets Daisy come. At Chloe's party they make pizzas but Chloe sabotages Daisy's pizza by covering it with anchovies which Daisy hates - she then says that they'll make sure Daisy's piece of birthday cake has a special anchovy filling when it comes to cake time, which causes Daisy to decline to eat any. They then watch very scary horror movies which causes Daisy to stay awake all night in fear. Actually no I gave up 97% of the way through. I’ve had enough. Daisy The main character of the story and a very nice girl who is quite new to the school and likes art. She creates "The Alphabet Girls" for the girls. She is also protective of her disabled sister Lily. This story is narrated by Daisy, she has a group of friends Amy, Bella, Chole & Emily. Amy & Bella are best friends, Chole & Emily are best friends, & daisy really likes Emily & wishes to be her best friend. All girls are good mannered except Chole & Chole hurts Daisy alot. When they start having sleepovers for each other's birthday party, chole makes it hard for Daisy, who howsoever never complains about Chole & is greatful that she got invited to the sleepovers.For Emily's sleepover they all go to the park for a picnic (including playing football whilst Emily's mother gets the picnic together and again at the park). On arrival at the park, Chloe pushes Daisy out of the car on account of Emily's idea of bringing hers and Daisy's teddy bears to the picnic and singing the song The Teddy Bears' Picnic en-route with the others, causing Daisy to scrape her knees and Chloe lied that it was an accident. Emily kindly lets Daisy share her bed and their friendship grows. Keri Beevis has a wonderful writing style and you feel so incredibly invested in the story, as well as the characters! Oh, and I’d have to say my favorite, favorite character was Tank, the extraordinarily lovable dog!! His presence in the book added so very much in my opinion! But being partial to dogs (I have 4 dachshunds), how could this have not made the book better and more memorable?! The Sleepover' is a chilling, unnerving read about a nightmarish situation. These are the first words that come to mind now I have read this,the latest psychological thriller from Keri Beevis,I would also say it has elements of family drama and a ‘whodunit’ vibe as well This would make for a great movie, especially the scenes in the cellar and barn. I would definitely keep my eyes closed in some parts. Cannot wait to see what comes next from this author. Thirty-five years later, the opportunity arose to visit Egypt as a jobbing author, thanks to Authors Abroad. I was invited to Cairo American College for a four-day programme of talks and creative writing workshops. Time did not allow for a trip to the Valley of the Kings in Upper Egypt, so like my ancestor the mapmaker I stayed put in Cairo and saw what I could there. I walked around the pyramids and goggled at the sphinx, my inner eight-year-old delirious with pleasure.The characters don't develop very well, either. The story is told very well, and had enough interesting twists to keep me reading, but I found the characters one-dimensional.
