In terms of size, the Aer falls in the middle of the range when compared to the 11 other buggies we tested. Its accompanying instructions are minimal, but adequate and clear. Visual assembly instructions are available on the Joolz YouTube channel if needed and are straightforward to follow. The care instructions also couldn’t be simpler as they are presented in bullet-point form.

Our tester’s overall impression of the Joolz Aer is that it’s engineered to a very high standard. She hung her changing bag on the handlebar when her three-year-old was sitting in the buggy and asked her to jump out. In both instances, the Aer stayed put.

The Joolz Aer+ does still have the option of the cot for newborns. There has also been a slight update to the Joolz Aer+ cot with the fold button being a little easier to use. Bigger and Better Sun Hood The Joolz Aer is super compact and what most parents love is the fact that it looks like a luxury full-size stroller, but it’s compact and light when folded. I often see some parents swapping their big strollers like Uppababy for smaller alternatives and Joolz is a perfect option for downsizing. Again – it’s a refinement – not a big updated, but I love the way that Joolz as a brand do make these little changes with new models, even if only someone like me would even notice! Fractionally Bigger Basket Keep in mind that just because someone says “I took this stroller on board and it fit” isn’t an indication that a stroller will fit in the overhead for you. Different airlines have different size restrictions so if your stroller exceeds them the crew has the right to say no or might let it slide (but then it’s also not guaranteed that the stroller will actually fit in the bin). Better get the smaller fold and be safe than sorry and stressed later! A bit more of a subtle update, but still very thoughtful, the Joolz Aer+ has the mesh panel on the hood closer to the handlebar, so you can easily peek in at your little one in the stroller. The original Joolz Aer mesh was just a bit too far forward making it awkward to see through to the seat if you’re standing behind the stroller. More Durable & More Sustainable Fabrics

Joolz Aer stroller is the first lightweight stroller of the very established and trusted Dutch brand Joolz. Aer is described as a high-quality, stylish, lightweight buggy. Is it really a good stroller though? Would Joolz Aer work for siblings? Joolz finally released the footboard / buggy board with seat and people get excited that the board folds with a stroller (but it makes it way too big for the plane anyway). I still prefer the Yoyo’s board though, but it might be a personal preference. When it comes to sun protection, the Joolz Aer is fitted with a generous UPF50+ sunshade which unzips to offer even more protection, revealing breathable mesh that allows you to see your child. Our tester found it shaded her three-year-old well from the hips upwards. Are there any extra features?

We've improved the wheel design, providing 4-wheel suspension for a smooth ride, and added LED light compatibility for safety in low-light conditions. The Aer+ is sturdy and well-engineered, with a premium feel that sets it apart. The generous shoulder strap and foldable bumper bar makes it incredibly easy to carry the stroller wherever you go.

With the Joolz Aer+ range, you have more options for sustainable fabrics. Joolz teams with Waste2wear w\ho creates fabrics from recycled plastic. But they don’t just get the plastic bottles that come out of our recycling bins – they have an Ocean Plastic Project, collecting plastic from coastal areas and then are turned into usable fabric. This buggy doesn’t just look good, though. Both soft and practical, our tester put it through its paces over a whopping 50 miles and there were no signs of wear and tear after testing was complete. The recline is deeper offering near flat recline (in the European version at least, because it’s not as deep US & Australian versions due to recline laws on compact strollers – it makes the stroller less stable). Attractively, Joolz offers a lifetime warranty on the Aer to make sure you get even more value for your money. How comfortable is it? The Joolz Aer comes straight out of the box ready to unfold and go, with no assembly needed. The box is itself a Joolz feature, with eye-catching instructions for turning it into a toy airplane for your child.While our tester found that this method cleaned it effectively, some users might prefer to be able to completely remove the cover and give it an immersive clean, which isn’t possible with this model.

The Joolz Aer is a seriously stylish buggy. From the lines to the leatherette on the handlebar and bumper bar to the fabric, everything feels like premium quality. One big difference I always see is that when strollers fold one-handed the closing mechanism is in the middle of the bar, which makes it slightly more difficult to steer with one hand vs when the bar is clear of any buttons. When I say slightly more difficult I don’t mean it’s super difficult, it’s really minor, but once you steer a stroller without the mechanism in the middle you’ll understand what I mean. Folding and Unfolding of Joolz Aer Rather, the Joolz Aer pushes very smoothly, with no undue effort expended in pushing at all. How safe is the Joolz Aer? The basket is very spacious and it’s a huge plus for a compact stroller. I was able to put my own purse, along with two big bags of shopping in without any major issues.

What’s the storage like?

As well as being awarded Best Luxury Lightweight Buggy 2020, we’ve also selected the Joolz Aer as this year’s easiest to fold. The handlebar is covered in leatherette for the comfort of the user. It isn’t extendable, but proved a suitable height for both the taller (6’1”) and shorter (5’6”) parent in our tester’s family. Neither found they needed to compensate while pushing by bending or stooping. Like a lot of lightweight buggies, the Aer is handwash only. To clean, you wipe the fabric with lukewarm water and soap, rinse with fresh water and then leave to dry. The release of the new Joolz Aer+ stroller version is making many parents ask whether it’s worth the upgrade. What’s new? Were all the annoying features of Joolz Aer corrected?
