About this deal

The company was founded in 1983 by a man named Peter Lyngdorf and has since expanded from the confines of Denmark, and can now be found sold all over the world as a well-sought after a brand of speakers. The One is its first foray into the market, but with Bluetooth connectivity it's a savvy music system too, not just restricted to boosting TV audio output. The UK hi-fi magazine, Trusted Reviews, has been DALI fans for quite some time now, and their meeting with the KUBIK ONE hasn’t changed anything – it left the KUBIK ONE with a fantastic score of 9/10 and praising words. Familiar CDs sounded exactly as they would be played on a high-quality mini-system – high detail, good stereo picture and correct tonal balance in the entire reproduced frequency range. When listening to The Weeknd’s I Feel It Coming at high volumes, the mid-bass shunt can really be felt.

And what a glorious month it's been, as the audio quality is second to none, perfectly balanced, with the right levels of richness in mids and high levels. Designed to meet the demands of DALI’s sound philosophies, every material used in the woofer is carefully selected. It’s oblong with rounded ends and it comes in a tastefully Scandinavian looking choice of Iron Black, Ivory White and Mountain White.Has optical in for TV and a second optical plus phono input , the latter links to my CD player/streamer. And here the highlight of the DALI Kubik One finally surfaced: it turned out that the speaker does not sound like a soundbar at all.

Using aluminium makes it possible to not only create a compact cabinet that will be easy to place in any room, but also giving the KUBIK ONE a simple yet iconic look. Despite this, it’s difficult to imagine many “soundbars” that can rival it, particularly when it comes to music. What Dali's Kubik One offers is a beautifully-built speaker, with a load of great uses and amazing sound quality. Beats on the cymbals can be a touch tinny and even the high, sad brass echo in Let It Be is not quite as rich as it might be.

The unit is controlled using a horrible blister-button remote, which is too small and awkward to use.

After years of having FS and the usual array of equipment which go along with a set up, I crave for a simple and clean set up.That’s lost when the bass level is reduced to Neutral, a setting in which the sound appears to have lost all of its energy, while Bass Boost generates an excessive amount of mid-bass that takes away from the outstanding mid-range frequencies. This mix paper pulp and wood fibre makes the cones stiff and light which ensures that every micro detail in the signal is reproduced unfiltered.
