We got into a pub near the ground (cannot remember what it was called !) and had a couple of pints between about 12.30pm and 1.30pm and then made our way up to the ground. Everyone in the pub was more than friendly and welcoming. He said: “Eight [fire service] units attended that day. That main fire exit on the ground floor wasn’t functional, it still isn’t. Although Pomona is closer to the stadium, the best bet when leaving the ground is to use the less busy Exchange Quay. From the Salford Quays area, the stadium is visible, and access is either via Trafford Road or over the foot bridge next to The Lowry Centre and Imperial War Museum.He said both the trust and the council have systems in place to ensure conflicts of interest don’t arise. The record attendance, which pushed to being very close to 77k, came in 1939 and then World War Two came along and, come the end, people have seen a lot of the ground destroyed through bomb strikes. United soaked up our pressure with little effort and scored their first on the break through Fabio, then shortly after the restart Rooney headed in from close range. Both goals came from rebounds if I remember correctly which was a bore. At half time only bottles of Singha were on sale for a mammoth 3 or 4 pounds so I gave them a miss. It was annoying they didn’t sell pints but there you go. There were the usual pies and hot dogs on sale. Despite the magnitude of the game the United fans never got going, a shame with the ‘ammo’ they’ve got at their disposal. Us Arsenal fans didn’t stop all game and towards the last 20 mins turned it up a notch chanting non stop that we won the league in Manchester, absolutely fantastic.

What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then other sides of the ground? Food and drink can be brought into the ground. However all bags and picnic hampers will be subject to being searched, and any items on the prohibited list will not be permitted to enter the ground. No alcohol, cans or glass containers will be allowed into the ground and drinks will be limited to 75cl sized bottles. Are corner or end zone seats better?
