Snow Means Death: The story revolves around three girls who live in a village that is hit by a harsh snowstorm. The final story I haven’t mentioned, In Conclusion, is straight up Red Riding Hood and has some stunning splash pages that look like concept art for the movie Avatar’s alien planet Pandora - using purple to colour trees and rocks at night? This is a beautifully rendered but deeply chilling collection of vignettes that will be most appreciated by teens and adults who are fans of fairy tales, horror, and the things that hide in the dark. Since they decided to stay there, the next day one of the sisters said a man came to the door the night before, and the next day.

Unfortunately, that's when things start going bad for the girls, starting with the realization that their father died hunting. But once they meet at the neighbor's house, Beth comes to accept the man when he kindly plants his hat on her head and lets her enter the house, where she reunites with her dead parents and sisters. A bloody handprint later appears on a window, which is left there by the husband as he is brutally murdered by his dead first wife, whom he murdered to inherit her wealth and mansion. Beth, the middle-born sister, is convinced the strange man kidnapped her sisters after losing both Mary and Hannah in quick succession, and once they're gone, she has to make the dangerous trek alone.

He's implied at the end to be The Grim Reaper who comes to take the girls into the afterlife after they die during a snowstorm. When the body of the husband's first wife is put back together, she claims that the estate was originally hers, and she willingly gave everything to her husband, who regardless went ahead with marrying and then murdering her to have it all for himself. they are definitely not scary, or weren't to me anyway, and they fall more on the side of "atmospheric" or "ominous" than "you will never sleep again.The artwork style, simplistic and almost child-like adds to the tension, and Emily Carroll is not afraid of some blood and gore in her illustrations.
