September 1, 2017 As there are only the two wires fitted direct to the battery, I just needed six cable ties (four were supplied) to keep everything tidy. Having watched the YouTube video, the instructions made sense and were easy to follow. The Sports or the Touring grips will be fine - if you measure the length of your standard grips, and choose whichever grips would require the least trimming. The maximum uncut length and the maximum cut length are shown for eachproduct.

Unfortunately, there is no glue provided to help attach the grips, even though the instructions suggest an adhesive may be required. As the grips were fairly easy to get onto my bars additional glue would be required for a permanent fit. Can the original bar ends still be fitted after the hot grips are in place ? MT 092018. May 14, 2018 The grips are not supplied with a specific model application list but are designed for 22mm handlebars.The grips are 123mm as standard, but can be trimmed down to114mm.The ends of the grips will require cutting for anyone with hand guards as they only have a hole for bar ends. Leaving the end in place will result in them not fitting correctly and will hinder throttle movement. They are easy enough to cut through. Be aware not to cut into the heating elements as you will ruin the grips, something that’s not highlighted in the instructions. By default, ‘Battery Saving Mode’ is enabled, which automatically turns the grips off if the battery voltage drops below 11.5V or if the unit doesn’t detect the electrical ‘noise’ of the alternator for more than two minutes. Basically, if you do leave the bike and forget to turn the grips off, they’ll shut themselves down. O xford Hot Hands are different from the other heated grips on test in that you can easily remove these from the bike when needed. This is because they are wrap-around warmers that simply attach on top of your existing grips. They do however still have an on/off controller and plug into the bike’s battery feed. I can’t say I’m a fan of these type of grips but they definitely do have a market for those that do not want (or like) them to be permanent fitments on their bikes. The Oxford Hot Hands achieved a high temperature after one minute, but the Oxford adventure finally achieved the highest temperature in the time period, getting close to 50C. These grips are for adventure style bikes, on a scooter the best fitment would be the Oxford Heated Hot Grips Light -Scooter.

On a very practical level, these are our first fully silicone grips; this incredible material increases their lifespan by up to 200% without compromising comfort or performance, as well as reducing cable strain and increasing grip levels. The instructions are on a single sheet of A4 and are clear and concise. They do state that the grips need to be fixed in place with glue, but no glue is included which is a shame. In terms of warmth, the R&G heated grips had the fifth hottest heat output, measuring 44.7C on our thermometer after four minutes. Compare this with the 49.8C of the Oxford Adventure grips and it’s pretty impressive when you consider the price of these and the fact that if you shop around you can get them far cheaper. Customisable grips - Grip length of 125mm but can be trimmed to 120 or 115mm if required, with open ends allowing bar end weights can be fitted.Innovative Heat Setting Memory function stores previous heat setting and defaults to this at power-up, saving time when in regular use. The grips should not drain the battery when the engine is running, unless there is a fault with your motorcycle's charging system. If the grips are left on when the ignition is turned off, the controller will sense a drop in the bikes battery voltage, and turn the gripsoff.

I couldn't get the left grip to sit where I ideally wanted (with the LED light directly facing me) because the heating wire fouled my bike’s cruise control buttons (see photograph in gallery above). We would suggest choosing the equivalent length grips that you currently have. Longer grips can be trimmed by approximately 5mm tofit.

The supplied instructions are detailed, though there aren’t many illustrations, so as a newbie I found it helped to follow some YouTube videos; the tutorial I found showed the guy fitting them in less than half an hour, so use that as a guide for more experienced buyers. It took me an hour to work out how to remove my KTM’s seat, and another hour before I had the side panel off. The ends can be trimmed, if you look on the fitting instructions under D - fitting procedure, it shows the trimlengths. The ends of the grips are open meaning you do not have to cut anything which is great, and superglue is included which may be required to secure the grips to stop them spinning. The downside to these grips is that the live battery feed exists as a bare wire. I’d much prefer to see a ring connector pre-attached but for the price, it’s only a minor gripe. Hi, I'm new to riding and have a Honda cbr500r. Just a question about how waterproof the connectors are.
