We’re going into our eighth smash month of Sketchbook Skool’s A Drawing A Day Challenge, and we’re feeling like Phantom of the Opera, or Cats.
Being in lockdown has made it quite difficult for me to maintain a good level of motivation for a longer period of time, especially when it comes to when I am trying to think of a good idea for a big piece or poster.
From this piece I have had the idea to communicate a backstory for the objects I have been looking at- this might be fictional or factual depending on how much I know about each piece. I'd say maybe 6-11, although younger children could definitely attempt it, and older children might enjoy them and could obviously add their own twist. At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. Not to mention the drawing prompts are varied enough that they'll make you think hard about what to draw. I did get through the section quickly, and the last video was like a cliff hanger- I wanted to jump in to more.

Children will love learning to draw everything from an astronaut to an octopus, a fairy tale castle to a monkey in the jungle.
