You don’t have to shoot through the unit so there is much less of a chance of shooting your chronograph. I seem to get od reading or no reading I have tried fitting near the muzzle and moving back 50mm or so to no effect. For me, best results seemed to be achieved placing the barrel about 2 inches above the chronograph and about 6 inches in front. Ok, not 100% true, I read the manual on my Zbroia Sapsan, Luckily it's the shortest manual I've ever seen and no pictures.

That +/- 2% is the maximum and minimum amount of calibration you can set, not the accuracy level of the chrono. OK it's not going to give you the accuracy of the forensic firearms lab, but is still a fair guide to where you are. But that cone would be so narrow that the FX Chrono would need to be almost like a scope as far as mounting on the gun to line up with the pellet's path.In practise, I don't need that kind of accuracy, and I prefer to have all the functionality and convenience at a fraction of the cost. I have come to the conclusion it seems quite accurate and provided its somewhere between an inch and 3 inch from the end of the muzzle the readings are not affected. I dont feel the FX quiet has this nailed yet and if I bought doppler, it would be labradar as I shoot powder too.

I don't think they are perfect, but I think they are a good balance of accuracy/cost/portability and all the features you get from having a Bluetooth devise connecting to your phone. Plus, the export of complete profile and session data to the clipboard; and not having the app drop the Bluetooth connection each time you switch profiles, or open another window on your phone, a small thing, but properly annoying!The radar does not calculate what the pellet is doing at the muzzle as, unless there is some way of telling it where the muzzle is, it does not know where it is. Seems very consistent as produced virtually identical readings with same charge and pellet on several consecutive strings. It’s also important to set the gun up on a fixed rest that provides totally consistent alignment with the chrono.

Just wondering if anyone out there had experience of this type of chrono , or could offer any advice. This is a great product for all sub 12FT/LBS if you want to check anything that fires over 1099 FPS then another chronograph will have to be for you. Mine works perfectly on both my RWs, have you checked the setting on the FX - there are a number which are user changeable and you can set it up wrong if you mess with them, also check the pellet weight is correctly entered and your weighing the pellets for consistency.
