About this deal

Compact and ridiculously easy-to-use requires zero setup and makes clean purified drinking water in 10 seconds (3L/min). To reduce the frequency of filter changes, the manufacturer recommends pre-filtering dirty or cloudy water in a t-shirt before filling the bottle. This will remove sediment and dirt.

The filter lasts around 150 litres or 300 presses. However, if you’re purifying very dirty or silty water, the lifespan will be reduced. As you use the Grayl bottle, you’ll notice the press time (the time that the purification process takes) going up. When this reaches around 30 seconds, it’s time to replace the filter. If you have access to a dishwasher, most of the Grayl UltraPress is dishwasher safe. The filter isn’t suitable for the dishwasher, so make sure you remove it first. Looking for an efficient water purifier but don’t want extra weight or bulk? Good news: GRAYL just slimmed down its eponymous water filter bottle into an ultralight option. Overall, the size and weight of the Grayl UltraPress are slightly off-putting but the advantages of the bottle outweigh this slight nuisance!

The other slight differences are in the design. The Ultrapress dropped the cap leash for weight reasons, and it has a slightly smaller (albeit 90-degree adjustable) carry handle. Testing the GRAYL Geopress vs. Ultrapress After using the Ultralight Compact Bottle for many years – there are a few key differences worth noting between the Ultralight and the UltraPress. First off: the UltraPress has a much smoother and faster press. Conclusion

My previous experience at this water source always provided yellow water (even after passing through a filter) and a gritty taste. I’m happy to say that the Titanium UltraPress did a fantastic job at not only giving me clean water but improving the taste. I’m not sure how they did that, but it dang sure worked. And it was easy to press the water through. That was a concern of mine going into this. The 10-second claim is accurate and not taxing in the least. What’s Wrong?

I’ve judged the performance of the Grayl UltraPress on how effectively it removes contaminants, and for how long. Based on these factors, the Grayl bottle offers high-quality, reliable performance. My first gripe about the UltraPress came on a morning I wanted to use the outer cup on a stove to boil water. I never got to that point because the outer cup didn’t fit on any of the stoves in our camp. It’s just too narrow.

GRAYL Ultrapress Review

The GeoPress can purify 700ml of water in around 8 seconds when the bottle is new. The UltraPress takes close to 10 seconds to purify 500ml of water. Over time, both bottles will slow as the filters begin to clog up. When it takes around 25 seconds to purify one bottle’s worth of water, it’s time to replace the filter. While simple, the purification process does require some effort, especially as the filter nears the end of its life. Due to the filter’s small pore size, the press required to force water through the filter can be tough on your hands, arms and shoulders. For context, I had the cap on, and I opened it half a turn to vent air. I was using the filter press on a surface about hip-high. It may have been faster if I had pressed down on the ground. So filter times may vary depending on your method. They’re also members of The Conservation Alliance, All Hands and Hearts, charity: water and are supporters of many more groups and organisations. The activated carbon absorbs chemicals, heavy metals, flavours and odours to ensure your water is safe and tastes fresh!
