Otherwise I'd take the Geek's wisdom with a pinch of salt and especially if you have manual control over the boiler's flow temperature. The one in the room I need most control over I’ve found is already half way through its battery after one winter. I find this very useful for when I’m working from home and want just my study heated, or more significantly at the weekend where I want all the downstairs heating only to come on, and also going to bed, I can turn off all the heating at the touch of a button. Put the wall thermostat furthest from the radiator where it never seemed to get sufficiently warm and it averages the two meaning that overall room reaches the set temperature.

but rather than the other 3 rooms being OFF completely and left to just drop in temp entirely, but rather set their thermstats to 18/19 just so that a trickle of heat keeps them ticking over? You may know this already but the room where your ‘wall’ thermostat is should not have radiators with smart thermostats fittedNo, I didn't know it shouldn't be positioned in a room with rads with smart TRV's! Once you have a particular brand’s smart thermostat or SRVs, you’re pretty much going to have to stick with that brand, though this may not really be a con, as if you like the brand, why not? Not sure if your boiler is OpenTherm, but only the single channal Wiser can work with the OpenTherm module as far as I understand. Not sure if it helps to know but the reason I'm getting this system is that at the moment we currently have a wired room thermostat in the kitchen which isn't a good place for it as the temperature fluctuates a lot depending on if we're cooking or not.I’m not fully aware of the Wiser system but assume it also has a boiler demand relay module that means if all it’s TRVs are satisfied it also turns off the boiler, so again once the room temperatures are satisfied the boiler will also stop firing. Never-the-less, restricting what the boiler heats and when it is on is a very effective way to reduce gas use. Smart TRVs also improve comfort by giving the user the ability to adjust the temperature of a radiator, usually on a scale of 1-5.

My set up has TRVs on every rad in the house, other than the dining room/kitchen which has standard valves. It was hoped it would become industry standard with all the boiler manufacturers subscribing, but sadly they haven’t, and in a bid to tie us into their system with extended warranties and the like if you adopt their controls they’ve developed their own versions of it e. Lead times are shown on the product and trolley pages and are always advertised in working days (Monday to Friday). If all TRV's are set to 20 degrees and I set the main "house" wireless stat to 22 degrees, should that overide the TRV settings (20 degrees) so that the radiators can pump out more heat, otherwise surely it would be impossible to raise the "home" stat temperature reading past the lower TRV setting? We also have a newborn premature baby so want to be able to ensure quite specific temperatures in the room the baby is in ie.

Now the lack of a convenient user interface is a criticism you sometimes hear about the Drayton Wiser system, which is of course app based.

After calibration which itself seems to sound like the solenoid inside the TRV takes around 10 seconds to close, when the TRV is sent a signal to open, it sounds like the opening only lasts 2 seconds, net result no heat.
