About this deal

All in all, "North Sea Hijack" is the perfect action thriller for a stormy and rainy autumn evening in front of your TV set. M.; Jennifer Hilary as a secretary far more competent than ffolkes expects; and Lea Brodie as Sanna, the lone female crew member aboard the Esther, she also coming in handy when ffolkes needs assistance. Backed up by the great James Mason (The Reckless Moment, Evil Under The Sun) and directed by Andrew V. Because "North Sea Hijack" is really all about Roger Moore the rest of the cast don't really make an impression, which in some ways is a good thing. Roger Moore takes a break from his more famous action character, James Bond, to play Rufus Excalibur ffolkes, an expert in underwater infiltration.

The others realise this fact and decide the best way to play this is to just run with it, have a good time, and really that is what anyone watching the film should do. This ironic statement is explained in the novel Esther Ruth and Jennifer by Jack Davies, in Chapter 1.In contrast to those parts, he portrays a bearded, eccentric, arrogant, cat-loving chauvinist with master strategist skills who does needlepoint embroidery and drinks scotch whisky as if it were water. Moore is brought in to thwart them, and plays a tense psychological games with his adversaries, constantly provoking them and second guessing their actions whilst trying to ascertain the most effective way to attack them aboard their vessel. Mason's Admiral Sir Francis Brindsen is a stalwart, career naval officer whose contempt for Ffolkes and the man's unconventional methods is matched only by his deep, abiding mistrust of anything that is neither military nor naval.

After playing such suave and sophisticated folks as James Bond and Simon Templar, Roger Moore went in for a real change of pace in North Sea Hijack.His father, Augustus ffolkes, had succumbed to a heart attack after witnessing his premature birth, thus making him the only child to have had a father die in child birth. The plot and the action is of a solid B-movie style and it doesn't try to be anything more than be a 100 minute popcorn movie.
