The series has appeared in Sweden as Hem till gården ("Home to the Farm") since the 1970s – originally on TV2, and since 1994, on TV4. The Emmerdale village that we all know and love is destroyed when a raging storm takes over, wreaking havoc in more ways than one. One thing yet to be confirmed is whether pregnant teen Amelia Spencer will give birth during the big episodes. To mark the birthday the ITV show shared an official cast photograph taken earlier this year outside the Woolpack pub in the Emmerdale village located in Yorkshire showing everyone from the longest-serving cast members to their newest additions, and even the Dingle family dog. Years of Emmerdale is a stunning and engrossing book, which will delight every fan of this iconic show.

The storm scenes were shot over recent weeks at the village set on the Harewood estate and in the Leeds studios.A farm that goes bankrupt, leaving Jack Sugden ( Clive Hornby) to move into a cottage in the village. Viewers watch as a hurricane rips through, sweeping up a cast of life-like 3D figures – each modelled on a different character from the series. Some were six to eight feet wide and looked like hovercraft fans; they were blown at the foliage, and trees, whipping a realistic wind through the village.
