I just love when the solution to a crime is in the past and to understand what's happening today they have to first understand the yeasterday!

I have loved the entire DCI Ryan series but really feel that talented author LJ Ross has upped her game with Angel, for me this is her best work by far, and considering the other books are brilliant, that says a lot. Angel is the fourth book in the DCI Ryan Mysteries series - don't forget to check out my reviews of the first, second, and third books in the series too! Her eleventh novel, The Infirmary, is a prequel story to the DCI Ryan series and is available as a major Audible Originals audio-drama starring Tom Bateman, Kevin Whately, Bertie Carvel, Hermione Norris and Alun Armstrong. With twists and turns around every corner, both the plot of the book and the overarching storyline of the series so far are expertly constructed and executed. It dropped low into the horizon, spreading wide arcs of flaming light over the city while stars began to pop in the cardinal blue sky far above. The DCI Ryan series is going from strength to strength and it is nigh on impossible to contain my excitement when a new book is released. In saying that, the author cleverly gives you bits and pieces of previous cases and events, enough that if you read this as a stand alone you would not feel lost in anyway and enjoy the book immensely. This is not going to bother you because if you've got this far you are going to read all the damn books.
