About this deal

You may not even realise it, but most of us use a digital-to-analogue converter (commonly known as a DAC) daily. Inside the box, the DAC/Amp is seated securely in a soft foam insert with an additional foam pad on top. DX3 Pro is using XMOS XU208 + 2 x AK4493 + OPA1612 to support up to 32bit768kHz PCM decoding and DSD512 native decoding of USB input. This gives the device the ability to transmit sound to longer distances compared to previous generation Bluetooth technology. I know Chord says a balanced output is not needed for their products, but just for the ease of use it would be great to replace the 3.

A shoehorned version of the H7, lighter, shorter and, quite honestly, almost as good as long as you don’t push it to its limit, truly a mesmerizing device. The Hugo quickly won me over and has become my main DAC/amp at the office and my desktop DAC at home – it simply is that good.

It appears like just one DAC chip is used, which would make the C200 incapable of “true” balanced audio – which would require two DACs to process the signal in parallel. My Lehman is a little bit more refined and smooth sounding since I tweaked every last bit out of it, but the onboard amp is getting darn close! If you don’t like to carry an additional DAP with you, you can get the Chronos and have an almost entry-level DAP performance in a miniature chassis. It sounds really good with all ears and headphones I have used it with, and I am very much looking forward to trying out many more in the future. I am looking for headphones that can handle complex classical orchestras, jazz, female vocals, chamber music and choirs, new age and celtic music, some rock, pop, funk and instrumental music.

So if you're looking for as much of an audiophile sound as you can get, I think the DX3 Pro+ is a good option. I don’t have the E30 to compare but as I said in the video and written review – I really like what I hear when connected to my KALI LP-8 and it also works great with the Wharfedale Pro Diamond Studio 7-BT. This function will provide great convenience when connected to a power amplifier or monitor speakers.

It’s not night and day compared to the EF400, but this new device remains a massive improvement on everything that made the previous model a recommended gear for me. On top of the device itself and the Bluetooth antenna, which you need to install manually, the SMSL C200’s box comes with a rather slim set of accessories which only includes the remote control, a USB to USB-C cable and the power cable. Why wouldn’t the lowest volume setting be 0 and get louder as the numbers increase in a positive direction? It feels grandiose and spacious; almost as if I were sitting in a grand hall instead of my small room. I don't have a lot of experience with DAC/Amps, but I am looking to get a decent desktop setup, I've been running off a Dragonfly Red until now.It can drive ninety percent of the headphones that is available on the market and it provides a hiss-free experience for IEMs. Switching to high-gain mode adds some noticeable kick to the bass lines and overall dynamics which makes it sound great with fast-paced music, games, movies. Also, the D50 had a few months of use and the DX3 Pro has only one day of use so I need to burn it in sufficiently.
