It is extremely useful when the metal detector starts reacting to radio-interference, or to power line, or to other metal detectors when there are other detectorists on the same location Many standard features are present like notch discrimination and “frequency shifting” which allows you detect close to another user and not suffer from electromagnetic interference. We’re not going to spend a huge amount of time comparing the three Vanquish detectors and the new range of Simplex now (more on that in another blog) but instead want to see how the new X-TERRA PRO will change the marketplace for those looking to buy their first machine, or those looking for a specific detecting experience.

The Nokta Makro Simplex + in my opinion is one of the best single frequency metal detectors in its class. The X-TERRA PRO comes with a search head which is 1” bigger than the Simplex. The Simplex comes as standard with the SP28 11” search coil and the X-TERRA PRO comes with the V12X 12" Double-D Elliptical coil. *side note – both come with a skid plate to keep your coil safe.So yeah, already due to its well-designed structure Nokta Simplex made a splash before it was even released, and now it takes the market by storm. What are the Most Important Features to Pay Attention To? The first waterproof metal detector on the market offering extreme depth and high-end features at an entry-level price! The settings that you can see on the screen include volume, ground balance, ferrous metals volume, discrimination segments, frequency shift, wireless headphones mode, vibration mode, lights, and flashlight. All settings are tuned by pressing the buttons to the right or to the left, or using up and down buttons. With the beaches and rivers being one of the key terrains for these machines waterproofmay be of more importance than we normally stress. At Crawfords Metal Detectors we sell a variety of detectors ranging from machines which only have a waterproof coil such as the Go Findand the high performance Vanquish range, to detectors specifically created for underwater detecting, such as the Excalibur II. Detectors like the Excalibur II are pressurised, and ideal for diving, and extreme underwater conditions (depth of 66 metres – 200ft). However, in the UK we find that due to our disappointing climate (let’s be honest, we do love the rain) and fairly cloudy waters that not many detectorists stray more than a few metres into the surf. It does unfortunately place it firmly at the mid range Minelab Vanquish 440 that uses multi frequency technology. This technology opens up a whole new world of finding previously undetectable targets.

More advanced features include 0-99 target ID that helps identify the potential target according to the segments, notch discrimination, plus adjustable ferrous metals volume that allows to ignore ferrous metals altogether if necessary. The Vanquish series do win over here however with their pioneering multi frequency technology over the single frequency Simplex +. Nokta Makro Simplex + Final Thoughts Nokta Simplex

It can confidently be used as a “switch on & go” machine with minimal fuss ground balancing functionality. The benefits of ground balancing is essential for the serious enthusiast. To complement the 11 inch DD coil included into the kit, you can also buy a bunch of other coils compatible. This is a novelty for cheaper detectors, as well. It also benefits from an “Iron Volume” function which is a really useful thing. This allows you to hear the iron in the ground when hunting in All Metal but to turn volume of the iron very low. The control box is simple yet convenient and user-friendly. There are six buttons to turn the device on and off, and tune the settings. The discrimination scale is provided in the upper part, below you can see the Search Modes icons. Next there are VDI target identification numbers, the sensitivity scale is on the right, the depth scale is on the left. Below, there is a battery life indicator. Settings Review
