The book is set out in seven parts and certainly isn’t for the faint hearted. It is full of exactly what it says it is, regulations. But fear not, there is a logic that can be followed. Once you are able to navigate the sections of the book, you will be able to easily find your way around it and apply it to the scenario in hand. The seven parts are;

Minor changes have been made to the model forms and guidance for recipients. These include the addition of fields Chapter 64 contains information on ‘Initial Verification’ and Chapter 65 details ‘Periodical Inspection & Testing’ guidance. The 18th Edition exam is an assessment of your ability to use the Wiring Regulations BS7671 2018 out there in the big world. As such problems and questions may not always be worded exactly as you come across them in the book.

Appendices

For all other cases, protection against transient overvoltages shall be provided unless the owner of the installation declares it is not required due to any loss or damage being tolerable and they accept the risk of damage to equipment and any consequential loss.
