Its outstanding efficiency allows the NH-L12S to provide even better performance than the previous model with its 92mm fan.

Thanks to the bundled long Philips screwdriver and these three holes at the top of the heatsink mounting the NH-L12S onto any mainboard is extremely easy. Its not that it draws too much power but simply the extra two thermal layers in its heat transfer profile that inevitably increases the heat source temperature.As you open the packaging, you are greeted by the accessory box which is perfect because it depicts exactly what’s included. The box size difference between today’s tested coolers is significant, but these are still both SFF friendly CPU coolers.

As a rule of thumb, if the fan overhangs the RAM, the maximum CPU cooler height specification of the case must be at least the size of the fan plus the height of the RAM minus 7mm (accounting for the height of the socket and CPU).To add some data points to this testing, I also dusted off our Noctua AM4 adapter kit, and adapted the previous generation NH-L12 to fit the Ryzen platform. Using a supplied low-noise adapter, it is possible to limit the maximum speed of the fan to 1,400 rpm and make the fan even quieter. Unless you mod the case to give you a fresh intake with a shroud over the cooler, in Unfortunately, mainboard manufacturers tend to change certain components and heatsinks without pointing it out by using corresponding revision names. Noctua’s classic NH-L12 has proven to be the best air cooling solution for Louqe’s award-winning Ghost S1 enclosure.
