Are certain words okay in some settings or situations but not in others? How flexible am I with what a partner might want to call something I like calling something else? Where is her religious identity. WHERE. Minus fasting and literally going to the masjid once, there is zero. There aren’t even any Muslim characters besides her parents and the Imam (who all have 2D roles and 5 minutes of screen time shared). Where is the representation we were pretending to have??? I get there are some people that live Maya’s life, but I’ve heard her story at least a million times and expected more. I just want you to know, it’s fine if we can’t date. If this has to be a thing that happened once in Target… Seriously. Whatever you need this to be -” Yes No Maybe So is a book involving a love story between two young local activists, passionate about politics. They meet at their local senate campaign, however, it’s certainly not love at first sight. Neither of the pair enjoyed their trips around the neighbourhood together but both understand the importance of their journeys. Eventually, the two realise it’s not as bad as first thought. The book also dips into real-life issues such as divorce, mental health, and racism. Maya and Jamie are campaigning for a progressive candidate in a red state like Georgia, so politics is at the forefront. In modern America, how could it not be? Yes No Maybe So is all about embracing diversity, championing minorities, and combating conservatism with grassroots activism. However, at times, the messages came off as heavy-handed. I would legit love if you wore a tiara every single day of the year. I’d pay to see that actually.”

Jamie is pretty great. Super funny, awkward, and relatable. (His attitude towards Maya’s identity as a Muslim is questionable but we’ll get into that later) So what's this book about?
