Texture-wise this bar is a variation on Grenade’s newer formula. It’s soft and fluffy, with a nice crunch from the crispies. The flavour that Ben and Jerry made famous and in doing so launched a whole sub-genre of hybrid flavours to our tables. Vibe : I can’t decide between the white chocolate and milk chocolate Oreo bars, so I simply won’t. 10/10. Grenade Bars – Best to Worst The crushed peanuts add an authentic peanut flavour and add a light crunch which does well not to disrupt the overall creaminess of the bar.

Thus, on seeing that Grenade had released a PB&J bar, I audibly shrieked with excitement (I never said I was cool).The peanut flavour is perfectly savoury, similar to the White Chocolate Peanut bar, and provides a delightful contrast to the sweet strawberry layer. Although strong, the banana flavour isn’t overwhelming and mixes well with the chocolate and the hint of salt from the caramel. Yet I think this bar could have been majorly improved if the chocolate flavour was more intense – maybe with a chocolate creme instead of the caramel layer – and the crunch was more pronounced. In other words, it would have been improved if it had actually lived up to its name… Like most of the other, newer flavours, at 226 this bar has a few more calories than the older range. The carbs are also a little higher at 20g, but this is matched by Grenade’s standard 20g of protein. Grenade Protein Bars should be consumed as a part of a balanced diet. Product contains more than 10g/100g polyols: excessive consumption may cause laxative effect. The milk chocolate coating is, as expected, silky and sweet, whilst the nougat-y base is dark and rich, adding that hint of saltiness so beloved of an Oreo biscuit.

How. When. Why.

This flavour is chocolate on chocolate on chocolate – a fudge-y centre topped with a gooey layer of chocolate, topped again with chocolate chips and then encased in Grenade’s signature milk chocolate (aka a chocolate-lover’s dream). The bar has a soft, slightly chewy nougat centre (made with authentic Oreo cocoa), topped with a layer of vanilla creme (made with authentic Oreo vanilla), sprinkled with, you guessed it, authentic Oreo pieces and coated in a layer of milk chocolate. If you’ve ever turned your nose up at something that’s ‘too sweet’, this bar probably isn’t for you. That being said, it’s wonderful. The white chocolate is the only difference to the OG Oreo bar. You still get the soft, crumbly core, authentic vanilla crème and real Oreo pieces, just now with a creamy white chocolate coating. Even so, this is a great addition to the line and I still really enjoyed it. You could say it would have been improved by substituting the caramel layer for peanut butter, but what isn’t improved by adding a bit of peanut butter… Jaffa Quake 8/10
