Love and Gravity is the finale of Ari North's heartwarming coming-of-age story about love, the future, and charting your own path. in the end, most of the appeal for me came from this comic’s illustrations. they’re gorgeously soft and wispy, with a beautiful watercolor-style in pastels. the architecture and environments look stunning, especially the night skies. it made me wish i could walk around in its world, and it felt like a feel-good version of the darkish noir of a movie like bladerunner. Since Austen never changes, Sunati admires what she assumes is her bravery and confidence. As Sunati and Austen chat more, Austen bluntly asks Sunati if she only wants to get to know her more because of her medical condition, which prevents her from using mods. As they gradually grow closer, Sunati learns how to interact more respectfully with those who have overactive immune systems as well as to share her feelings more honestly. Austen, in turn, learns to trust Sunati. This beautifully illustrated slice-of-life tale that shows two young women of color getting to know each other and creating a relationship is so warm and charming that readers will hardly notice how much they are learning about how to better interact with folx who are different from themselves and the importance of not making assumptions. The story also successfully weaves in agender, genderfluid, and asexual characters as well as the subjects of parenting and colorism into the natural arc of Sunati and Austen’s developing story. The soft, romantic artwork evokes hazy watercolors. The speech bubbles are predominantly pink and blue, and the varied layout will maintain readers’ interest. I would also recommend reading through the little Q&As because I found them pretty cute and interesting too!

Always Human is full of amazing queer characters and I loved it! We have the two main characters Sunati and Austen meeting and navigating a new relationship whilst having important conversations about disability and confidence. Their romance made me melt inside, it was so beautiful. The progression of their romance was great. North carefully shows the reader how their bond forms and makes sure to develop the relationship well. Rep: main sapphic couple, agender, asexual, and non-binary rep, Achillean Dads, Spanish-language usage, chronic illness rep other. Facing school difficulties caused in part by a condition that prevents body modifications, Austen considers My second favourite dynamic was Sunati’s and Rae’s friendship and I can’t stress enough how much I loved it. These two have known each other since childhood and we get to see key moments where they were what pushed the other one forward. It was so beautiful to have a story show how much the friends you make also change your life for the better. We also get to see how hard it can be when you want to be happy for your friend’s success while feeling left behind. And sometimes it can be hard to say the simplest words like “I miss you.” I really love that we got to see how much they relied on each other and that it was never just one-sided. Circumstances might separate them and mistakes pop up along the way but as they said themselves “As long as we refuse to drift apart this won’t be goodbye.” different choice: whether or not to accept an exciting job offer that would require a year-long stay on Saturn's moonSunatiis attracted toAustenthe first time she sees her and is drawn to what she assumes is Austen’s bravery and confidence to live life unmodded. Together, they will learn and grow in a story that reminds us no matter how technology evolves, we will remain . . . always human. the story also seems to be self-aware about being very much insta-love; austen even mentions this at one point, and despite that sunati still asks her unironically if they’re now proper girlfriends after the very first date they go on. in much the same way, the dialogue often made me cringe; it’s very on the nose and stilted. In the near-future, people use technology to give the illusion of all kinds of body modifications—but some people have “Egan’s Syndrome,” a highly sensitive immune system that rejects these “mods” and are unable to use them. Those who are affected maintain a “natural” appearance, reliant on cosmetics and hair dye at most to help them play with their looks.

Beyond some very cute dates and romantic moments they also shared all of the inbetweens, all the quiet and toned down moments, they shared their sadness and doubts and more than anything they were just there for each other in all possible ways. I loved how their personalities bounced off of one another and how they managed to grow as individuals and together. Their relationship made me smile so much and made me so happy to experience. i wish i could tell you more about the story, but there honestly isn’t any plot beyond the blossoming relationship between the two main characters. we’re offered a slice-of-life look into both their lives: friends, work, university, goals and dreams. the biggest struggles that pop up there are getting through exams for austen, and dealing with a heavy workload for sunati. Healthy relationships and healthy conversations unfold in a sweet slice-of-life story, the second in a series that launched on Webtoon. I loved how the art style changed as the story progressed. It looked so different and yet the same.

In this world, technology has advanced and people can modify what they look like on a pretty routine basis. Sunati loves changing her look and using this to boost her confidence, however she becomes intrigued by Austen, a girl who always looks the same. The language in the graphic novel is easy to follow and understand. There were a couple of instances where Spanish was used it was a delightful surprise! I loved how many characters were multiethnic, this aspect of the novel made it seem more realistic despite the fact that it takes place years in the future. None of the characters identities were seen as a marvel or to further the plot, they were simply a part of who they were and if an aspect was discussed it was done respectfully. changing her course of study, but she doesn't want to feel like she's giving up. Meanwhile, Sunati is confronted with a Sunati is attracted to Austen the first time she sees her and is drawn to what she assumes is Austen’s bravery and confidence to live life unmodded. When Sunati learns the truth, she’s still attracted to Austen and asks her on a date. This was so beautiful. I am completely in awe of the art style and the bubbles were so wholesome and aesthetically pleasing. This webtoon was so cute, had a very comforting feel-good vibe to it and of course the sapphics always make me happy.This wholesome plot focuses on building understanding, offering mutual support, and budding self-acceptance, as well as the importance of asking rather than making assumptions; avoiding othering; and regarding all those in one's orbit with compassion... I have to believe we’ll always find each other.” The book's cast is diverse; Austen's parents have a boyfriend, and a variety of skin and hair colors are on display.

Rendered in beautiful pastels, the art shows manga and anime influences, but with its own stylish storytelling tweaks.But as you fall, the fear fades. And all that remains is exhilaration. 15 thoughts while reading Always Human Speaking of side characters, I absolutely adored Rae. Not only is she absolutely gorgeous, but she truly is a magnificent friend to Sunati. I wish we saw more of her through this comic and I’m secretly hoping the author will give her a spin-off series. I can’t get over her and I adore her, so much! I also need to go off on a side tangent on how beautiful the art style is. I absolutely adored the colors and the music the author paired with this webcomic was fantastic. When I say I fell in love with this webcomic, I mean I really fell in love with how stunning it all is. My heart has never felt so at peace and at home with a comic the way I did with this one because that’s how alluring and captivating the art is. If it wasn´t for the amazing Melanie (MelToTheAny) and her equally epic friends I would have never known about this webtoon´s existence and honestly, that would have been a huge shame. So thank you lovely people for shouting about this book. So here are some of my opinions:
