About this deal

It was slightly predictable, but she really did keep you guessing till the end. You will have to read it to understand, just when you think you have it figured out, you don't, but then you do again... Only this time its like BAM!!!!! Wow! Amazing! London 2011- After interviewing a potential witness in a rape case, DC Lacey Flint walks out to her car and stumbles upon a dying woman-Geraldine Jones. Later a letter is sent to the office of a local reporter. As if I wasn't excited enough for her upcoming release, The Dark, now I am bussin at the seams to get my grubby lil mitts on it. Well, I guess there's a person somewhere in Nicholas's life, who does that okay-thing, but still, I loved it! But fortunately, he opened up his eyes and really saw who was there beside him. Robyn, who always wanted him. Robyn, who really loved him. Robyn, who was just waiting for him to really see her and understand all of this. Hence the title, 'See Me'.

That I read "Dead Scared" first didn't hamper my enjoyment of either but I did learn things about Lacey that I didn't know in "Now You See Me". The character Lacey Flint and her interaction with other members of the London Police is what makes the read for me. The mindset of a female policewoman, her means of detection, her working relationship with male staff, and general dealings with the public, are interesting to explore.

Which is why this book was so shite. It basically just took Irish mythology and culture and shit all over it, because it relied on old tired stereotypes instead of making any sort of attempt at real research. The amount of things this book got wrong was embarrassing. Like the accents, holy shit. Never use phonetic accents in books. It’s insulting. Why is my accent never seen as correct enough to write down normally? Lots of English people don’t say their ‘r’s, but you don’t write an English accent down as “They aw unable to say theh lettehs cuhectly.” Americans kind of draw out their vowel sounds, but you don’t write that out. “I cain’t tawk rait, okaiy?” So why do Irish accents get written out phonetically? I confess books with arranged marriages/bondings/matings hold a certain appeal to me, so that is part of why I loved this book. But it takes more than that. I stan Joesbury and Lacey even though they are toxic. I've already read book #2, and I yeeted book #3 when I realized one of the main POVs was an 11-year-old boy who was helping Lacey solve the crime... absolutely not lmao. So onto #4 it is! He shrugged. "Because you told me how you were feeling, even though you suspected it might hurt my feelings. And you told the truth. And you did both those things from a place of vulnerability and concern, because you want your parents to like me. Because you care about me."

This book is pretty cute. But still it has a lot of problems - a LOT of problems. What this book really needed was an editor, which it didn't have. Due to the fact that this book was self published all it had for the refining push was a bunch of beta readers which just doesn't equate an editor. So that is this books largest failing for sure. But otherwise this book is a light fun read. Colin was the third child and only son of his parents. His parents sent him to a military school where he learnt wrestling, boxing and judo. He was a violent angry man with no plans for his life until he decided to go to college at the age of 25. Evan his friend was an accountant and a financial planner. Colin moved in Evan's apartment on rent. While I usually tend to lean more towards YA books ( fantasy & dystopian being my faves ), I have a soft spot for Nicholas Sparks. I have read pretty much all his novels, own my favorites and watched all the ones that have been converted to movies. His books give me those warm, fuzzy feels that a girl needs every now and then. This being his newest one, it had a slightly darker feel than the others.the story is all about Marie, a lawyer , who was involved in case that ended up by burning the victim alive, and the murderer himself did not live any longer. despite the fact that Marie did all her best to the client who had been burned .the client's brother accused her that she was the main reason for what had happened. But when you see the other person is decent and, dare I say, attractive (at least to you), it seems to me that wasting your time being angsty and miserable instead of making the most of it is just stupid. As a Charlotte, NC native, raising my family in Winston-Salem, NC and having worked in Charleston, SC---it is always nice to hear mentions of familiar places in the NC/SC area. All you Dorothea Benton Frank and Mary Kay Andrews’ fans will enjoy the humor of Lilly--as she mentors Colin --how to dance, and what clothes to wear, as she works to smooth out some of Colin’s rough edges to make him acceptable in the eyes of his new found relationship and her family.

Lacey as a character was rather complex, however the writing of this character was very engaging and kept me wondering and guessing to Lacey’s own secrets and agendas... often secreted through hints and admissions through out the book. Lacey was relatable to some manner, her obsession with true crime mirrored that of my own when I was a teenager/now. Sharon Bolton did a great job at portraying a character who was new to murder work (especially that of a serial killer) and working with a new team who, some, seem mistrustful of her. Bolton shows Lacey’s doubts and the debates within herself for the sanity at keeping her job, finding the killer, and keeping hold of her secret past.I have read my fair share of bad books, some worse than the others. In some ways, See Me probably wasnt the worst book I've read, but it isnt very high up, either. A chance encounter on a rainswept road will alter the course of both Colin and Maria’s lives, challenging deeply held assumptions about each other and ultimately, themselves.As love unexpectedly takes hold between them, they dare to envision what a future together could possibly look like . . . until menacing reminders of events in Maria’s past begin to surface. I liked reading about the Leprechaun clan, they are funny little folk. I just don’t understand why they had to be detached from the human world so much that they never leave their village at all. Was it necessary? Weren’t they even the least bit curious about human civilization and the commodities it brings? Like indoor plumbing and technical devices. It must be terribly boring to live in the same place doing the same things for hundreds of years without any change.
