About this deal

As with the others in the series, I appreciate that the bottom of each page contains the Bible verses that are being depicted, as the reader should enjoy this manga with the intention of moving next to the Bible itself. You have to understand that what we think of as the traditional serious-looking leather-bound Bible is actually a relatively new format. And though this book was mostly just an overview hitting on key points, it really captured the spirit of things, in my opinion.

Siku is a rare find - an incredibly talented individual who works in a very demanding industry and still manages to have a fantastic sense of humour. This authentic, cutting-edge art style is combined with fast-paced story-telling to deliver biblical truths to an ever-changing culture that is often a challenge to penetrate. I love people coding up the odd freebie, but an entire blog dedicated to just that is probably a step too far Jack.Shinozawa-sensei’s shonen illustrations and humorous storytelling style are a good complement to the wild adventures of Yeshua’s followers after his ascension. They also both criticized the book's occasional odd phrasing when key dialog was rewritten using modern English. There were some parts where I expected more action such as that of the story of Jonah and the Crucifixion which did let me down. Manga Bible (新約聖書 Shinyaku Seisho) is a five-volume manga series based on the Christian Bible created under the direction of the non-profit organization Next, a group formed by people from the Manga industry. Of course you have to read it with your mind open to the fact that this is not the Bible, but I found it to be very accurate and definitely doing what I'm sure they set out to do. It follows both Israel’s and Judah’s apostasy as well as Yahweh’s attempts to lead the people back to Himself thru the prophets.As a whole, he felt the book was a faithful adaptation of the gospels, but did note that some slight liberties taken with the story would "probably bother steadfast Christians". It's the kind of magazine you might find in a doctor's waiting room next to Cosmopolitan or Reader's Digest.
