While a lot of these recipes are beyond my home cook motivations, reading Matty Matheson’s hilarious but heartwarmingly authentic stories made it worth checking out.

I'd totally expect that he cooks like this at home given his history in French restaurants like Le Select and La Palette, but I think the majority of his audience wouldn't see these as comforting, home style dishes and they almost certainly wouldn't associate them with the kind of personality they expect from Matty. There are many, many tempting recipes (see below) and Home Style Cookery will definitely get plenty of use if you like Matheson’s style (and I really do), but maybe just not everyday. Matheson's second book, which was given to me as part of the Abrams Dinner Party, lives up to its title; the recipes are truly meant for home cooking, and many are just fancy enough to make you feel good about what you're serving while remaining down to earth and easy to make. He's got this magnetism about him that makes you want to watch everything he does — food-related or otherwise. Pretty time consuming and expensive to make a lot of recipes from this book in my opinion but if thats what you’re into its great.
