About this deal

While the fearsome sex scenes are extremely intense and erotic between these two, and who doesn't love growly Lucius, I sometimes felt lost in the story because it seemed they just kept being thrown in every other scene. I would have preferred more on the communication side. For instance, when Lucius finally got around to discussing his daughter, it was a glossed over paragraph in which the reader never was able to experience his emotions in the telling to his Chosen. There were some heartfelt moments, and it was nice seeing some normalcy. Christmas at home with the gang was fun - great to reconnect with the Afterlife side. I just which there was a bit more balance. Beyond that...I knew life could not be that easy for them. Sunshine and roses (poppies) only last so long, especially when the Wraiths have not been set free as she vowed. So prophecies were not yet complete. Vincent’s story will be at least one more book!! Research trips have had to be cancelled which has delayed this but Steph is hopefully going to get this book as soon as she can. The Afterlife Academy starts approx 15/16 years after the end of Happy Ever Afterlife!! (aimed at a younger audience but definitely worth a read for everyone, especially if you want to know what happens to the the 2 baby souls!!!). Some of the new characters in these books will pop up in the other Afterlife Kings books and in the Transfusion Series so you may want to meet them for the start of their journeys!! The ending... Matthias turns into a god, Lucius said ‘the only thing that can beat a god is another god’ and what do you know Amelia becomes a god and defeats him. It’s exactly the same ending as afterlife, where Keira became a god to beat the enemy. Like seriously?

Another small issue is wanting to know why it takes twelve books to tell a story. Surely the author could have spent more time on each book concentrating on proper sentence structure and removing the amount of unneeded fluff. The use of conjunctions at the start of sentences is so annoying! The odd one is fine, but when it’s 5 or 6 sentences in a row it reads like one long continuous thought. I’ve said this about the last 2 books but it was just as bad if not worse in this one. As well as the conjunctions she used the phrase ‘as for’ so many times e.g as for me, as for you, as for her, as for *insert character name here*, this also became extremely annoying.

These books have the possibility of being deemed in the top one hundred but the number of problems with the writing makes the books almost unreadable and that's a shame. The heroine keeps rambling, every noun deserves its own inner monologue - written in a way the author may have thought would be entertaining/funny and make the heroine likable... VERY TRANSPARENT TO THE POINT OF CRINGEY. I'm both super glad and tormented that we are waiting for another book to continue in my opinion the best set of books I've read (including Afterlife in them because how can we not). Lucius' story is a 12 book book series in its own right. It takes place after a lot of the other stories yet to be told but these books are out now as no-one wanted to wait to know our Vampire Kings story. And Steph did not want to wait to write it!!!!

GOD'S Why oh why did I wait so long to read this book,oh yes waiting for the next two books so I could binge read them all as I knew they all end on a cliff hangers.

It’s hard for me to get into this book because for starters, it drags and drags and drags and drags... you get what I mean. And then the heroine is so unlikable. She could convince herself until she’s blue in the face that she isn’t the same naive, 21 year old girl who naively gave herself up to the Hero only to be humiliated, but alas, she’s still the same girl at 27 year old.

I will Always be a hard core Lucius fan and I couldn’t wait for him to get his own saga as Stephanie had promised. When I found out that Amelia was his chosen one I didn’t know how to feel but damn it, if I wasn’t intrigued. And again our author goddess did not disappoint. I absolutely love the transfusion series. Afterlife... to Kings of Afterlife (to be cont'd)... to Transfusion (to be con'd)... to Afterlife Chronicles (which I'm not going to waste my time with, because I doubt it's completed). Gobbled this up in a day... I love this author... i read afterlife up to book 7 as i felt the story was getting way to dragged out so i stopped there. I started this with some prior knowledge of the world and its characters, which is a must when starting this book. She’s actually a strong character but put the Hero in front of her and all of sudden she is a mumbling stutering mess—I almost felt sorry for her. At first at least. Seeing him again after so many years surely gave her a whiplash but then slowly she started to give the Hero the time of day then I just got annoyed. Honey, he humiliated you!! I don’t care if he had a good reason for it. And then you found out that he has feelings for your own mother! And you’re giving him the time of day as if it was nothing? Our girl is a bass ass which we all knew she was but she saved everybody infront of her Daddy which yet again I thought was a lovely touch because he would not believe how resourceful she was before this time.In fact, to all who knew me well, I was a morning monster and could rival Hell’s wrath if woken up before I absolutely had to. Which made getting me up in the morning for school a bit of a challenge for my parents. But, since then I liked to think that I had matured in this department and therefore no longer growled like a bear at people should they wish me good“ I really really really tried to like this book. The plot is 1000% what I was looking for and love...
