A book like this can be read as a juicy conspiracy book or a history book about an interesting sociological phenomenon. The Valentich story was still lurid tabloid news fodder and, as news of the NZ Kaikoura sighting hit the Christmas holiday newspaper and TV news weeks later, Valentich’s disappearance was still inflaming ‘UFO fever’.
