About this deal

Extras: Standout bonuses are the choice of two versions of the movie (the 105-minute Theatrical Version and 109-minute Extended Cut), plus a lively commentary track featuring director David Gordon Green and stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Judi Greer. Unfortunately, Halloween Kills is something of a disappointment by comparison, though it’s not for want of trying – there are a number of new ideas, but most of them are dreadful and backfire painfully as a result.

This film wasn’t for every fan but if you enjoyed it this disc is well worth adding to the collection. Going into Halloween Kills , expectations were understandably high for where the franchise would go next.Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers. After two less-than-amazing remake entries, The Shape looked like he was on the verge of just rolling through the churn and burn remake/sequel cycle. It straddles both ‘ultra-modern’ yet retaining a texture that matches perfectly with the ‘new’ and original 1978 footage, thanks to the inclusion of what looks like a fine layer of digital grain that has been added in to further try and match textures.

Thanks to the UHD BD’s HDR10/Dolby Vision grading they are not only perfectly balanced, but also reveal plenty of shadow detail. I didn’t like the first time I saw this film at theatres and I’m sure it was because of the high volume levels which made the movie less enjoyable and very loud. We reviewed the Region free UK Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Halloween Kills on a JVC-DLA N5 Ultra HD 4K projector, Philips 50PUS6754/12 and a Panasonic DP-UB9000 Dolby Vision HDR10 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. If any provision of this agreement (or part of a provision) is found by any court or administrative body of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, unenforceable or illegal, the other provisions shall remain in force. This incarnation did not push the envelope to be the Halloween that , the 1978 version, has always deserved. It did get a bit silly with the "Evil dies tonight" ,and the concept was sure better than the execution. Early in the film when first responders arrive at Laurie’s burning house is a terrific example of what this Atmos track has to offer. I for one am glad that Halloween Kills earns a pretty damned impressive native 4K 2160p Dolby Vision HDR transfer.

The 4K release from Universal gets the transfer perfect and even if the extras are exactly the kind of puff pieces to be expected from all modern releases, this release overall managed to help increase the enjoyment of the film second time around. Also available in the 3-disc Halloween TrilogyHalloween Trilogy which includes "Halloween", "Halloween Kills" and "Halloween Ends". This Halloween film needed much more violent imagery for me to get a gut-deep bodily response and stimulus for a true visceral reaction experience that I was hoping for. Deployment of the overhead channels is sporadic, although moments such as burning timbers crashing down (Chapter 4) or Michael’s footsteps stomping upstairs (Chapter 2) are very effective. Flesh tones are solid, black levels are terrific as a vital structural component, and red blood is as intense as necessary. But it also felt like the sole reason for this movie to exist was to just take the violence to 11 and nothing more. Taking the bold step of slicing out nearly 40 years of sequel/remake history, the 2018 film was a fresh and bloody restart. Examples can be found during the inferno in the cabin and, Michael’s assault on the group in the car near the park. What I hated the most, were the cheezy stupid "lines" and the fact that the folks from the town were a LOT stupid. In this chapter, Laurie Strode (Curtis), now a grandmother, works with her family to plot against murderer Michael Myers (Castle) who still roams the streets of Haddonfield.

The Company reserves the right to change these conditions from time to time as it sees fit and your continued use of the site will signify your acceptance of any adjustment to these terms. Halloween Kills elevates the body count and ramps up the style but ultimately adds little of worth to the franchise. As Laurie fights for her life from injuries from her last encounter with Michael, she inspires her daughter Karen (Judy Greer), granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak), and all of Haddonfield to rise up against their unstoppable monster. aspect ratio that uses 10-bit video depth and High Dynamic Range (HDR10 and Dolby Vision varieties) and is encoded using the HEVC (H. That has an impact on the plot too, most notably in the sequences where the townsfolk attack Michael – Green doesn’t have a convincing solution for why they don’t just cut his head off or shoot him repeatedly in the head, so instead they just resort to giving him a good kicking and hope that does the trick.
