About this deal

Meanwhile, they learn that the police liaison assigned to the boy's mother has fallen short of keeping contact with her. Below we have Comment from a couple counsellor…British seaside life is well depicted, the long stretches of rolling waves washing up on the sand, the grey skies brightening into Summer. The wooden shelves are all empty, my desk swept clear of work, and the tiny figurines on the window ledge are unrecognizable, crushed into shards that glisten in the sunlight. You'll be shocked by the twist in the middle of I Let You Go-- just don't spoil it for everyone else!

There is a strong human element to the main character, Annie’s addiction and this is an account of addiction I have not experienced previously. They have a fight on the cliff tops and "unfortunately" Ian slips and falls off the cliffs and down the 200ft drop into the sea. Sees the dark shadow form beneath his head and hears her own wail as though it comes from someone else. Clare is patron of the Silver Star Society, a charity based at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford, which supports parents experiencing high-risk or difficult pregnancies. Wow, I read 2 of Clare Mackintosh's books before reading this, her first one, and although I expected a twist, this one completely floored me. Mackintosh uses Part One of the book to lay the foundation for a big reveal that the reader won’t see coming.

Jenna’s husband’s voice does not make an entry in later in the novel but Mackintosh does this for strategic plot reasons. The frank writing style, the here and now setting, combined with authentic relationships between the two sisters featured in this novel, makes Before I Let You Go a book I recommend many times over. They walk as quickly as five-year-old legs will allow, her free hand holding his bag, which bangs against her knees.Sometimes when you read a book you just inherently know that it will remain by your side for a long time to come. Ray wondered if Business Support’s newfound enthusiasm for equipment audits would extend to a replacement, or whether he was destined to run Bristol CID from a chair that cast serious doubts over his credibility. If you are a fan of astute psychological thrillers and appreciate a good injection of realistic police procedural work, then this book would be the ideal choice. Leaning forward to find a marker pen in his chaotic top drawer, Ray crouched down and changed the label to ‘detective’. I don’t want to say too much more about this aspect of the novel as I don’t want to spoil it for potential readers.

This develops into a continued relationship between the two of them where they do finally get married. One evening, she’s had as much as she can take and she makes a break for it channelling her inner Thelma or Louise.

On a dark evening, walking her son home from school, a mother's worst nightmare comes true: he slips from her grasp and runs into the road, where he is hit by a speeding car. As a thank you, when you sign up, I'll also send you my personal reading list: fifty books I loved, that you might love too. I was lead to believe in part 1, that Jenna was Jacob's heartbroken mother, who could not live with what had happened to her baby. They wiped their feet and walked up the narrow hallway, pushing past an over-loaded coat rack, beneath which sat a pair of child’s red wellies, neatly placed beside an adult pair. Clare is the patron of the Silver Star Society, an Oxford-based charity which supports the work carried out in the John Radcliffe Hospital's Silver Star unit, providing special care for mothers with medical complications during pregnancy.
