About this deal

Philosophy Pure Grace has been a rare exception in my case. As such, it’s remained my go-to fragrance for almost 2 decades. For me, it’s pretty linear (which is more of a plus than a minus imho) once it dries down into a uniquely bright and fresh (while not venturing over into sharp territory) yet sensuous, not-too-sweet blend of florals and musk. On my skin it wears as a so-called skin scent, which is exactly what I want: a scent that works and blends with my body chemistry as a subtle enhancement, as if it becomes integrated with my natural scent, rather something sitting on top of my skin and unrelated to it, as if it were a piece of ill-fitting clothing. My mother adores this, her favourite flower is lily of the valley and she told me I smelled like a field of flowers. who and when can you wear it? I think it's fine as unisex, a man wearing it will smell of inoffensive neutral mild soap and shampoo. Just clean and showered. Since it is so mild and neutral it can be worn any time of year, but would be great in fall with a cozy sweater and also in summer when you want a mild light smell.there are no sharp citrus notes here so it would be perfect for relaxing on the beach or q summer picnic when you want to just smell clean. Definitely not a evening scent unless you are going to bed TO SLEEP in comfy pajamas and cuddling your dog or teddy bear. On a night time date at a fancy restaurant or sophisticated event this scent is not enough at all. It is pretty smelling, clean and inoffensive so would be great for the office or church or weddings PB Premiere Amazing Grace* (a spot-on dupe for Philosophy's AG, it just doesn't have as good longevity and sillage). Hopefully Fragrantica might update the listings with the new bottles and specify more clearly which is the EDP and EDT... but in the meantime, I'm writing this review to clarify for myself.

Lavender note is not too sharp, it just act in the way giving this perfume an "Aromatic" kind of, yet person who doesn't like "Strong Aromatic scent" or hate "Strong lavender scent" can use it Bc of its mild freshness it's hard for me to imagine anybody disliking the fragrance, but I've recognized that it's missing a little something. I've tried to find other perfumes I like as much as or more than but when I compare it to others they never match up-other than egyptian musk which does have all the good of this and a little something else except i've become utterly nose blind from using it as a signature for years. I loved it, and I still do. It is light and fresh, but with that muskiness in the base that makes it last on the skin. It doesn't lean too citrus or too white floral. It's a really unique blend that I haven't smelt in any other perfume! It's very feminine and soft. This is a review of the EdP, not the EdT or “fragrance spray” or whatever Philosophy used to call it. (I have an older bottle, BTW .. with dense sparkles at the bottom that disperse toward the top of the bottle, circa 2014-2015.. ish.) At the time, Philosophy was getting a lot of attention in the beauty press, with so many people raving about the range, so I guess I just bought into the hype. (Not to mention the really good price-point being offered for gift sets for all three fragrances, on QVC that day). But when I received them in the post I was really underwhelmed. I tried 'Amazing Grace' as that was the one which seemed to be most popular, but when I went in to smell my wrist I was just like "eh, is that it?" I really couldn't understand what all the hype had been about.Absolute soap scent. That I absolutely love! The lavender is prominent, so if you don't like lavender, skip this one. The notes I detect in this are water lily, lavender + soft dewy green notes & light musk. Nothing is overpowering, everything is soft like a breeze. 😊 I used to make fun of this for being a boring church girl perfume, but then I smelled it. It's great! I think jasmine is one of my power notes and this is a nice, dry, clean jasmine/rose with a really beautiful musk base. I also have some of the lotion, which seems to leave a lingering scent for even longer. It's really nice layered with almost anything (I recommend layering with an ambroxan scent like Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume!) and it's a good squeaky clean scent on its own. There is something about it that feels timeless without coming off as old fashioned. I can understand why it's so popular. There are about five other fragrances that smell similar to "Amazing Grace" and I owned and gave away every last one: It's not a bad fragrance, but it's definitely not something I would buy. First of all, the fragrance itself is just... meh. Nice, but too basic… Don't get me wrong: it's delicate, fresh and clean, floral, slightly sweet and soapy. However, it's nothing memorable. I would love a body cream, deodorant or body wash with this fragrance, but not a perfume. Rather than an EDT it seems almost a cologne because of the low longevity. It's a good scent, but I almost feel like it has no personality. There are also some pros: I really like the minimal aesthetic of the bottle. I think it can be a good perfume to give to young people who want to approach the world of perfumes, quite blind buy safe in this case. Speaking of price, it's not bad, maybe slightly overpriced. By using a body lotion as a base, the fragrance stayed on my skin longer."

I can understand why some people love this perfume. The right body chemistry seems to mute those screechy notes, warms the whole thing up and turns this fragrance into something beautiful. My body chemistry doesn’t seem to mesh with this at all. I find the lasting power to be fine, though because I love the smell so much, I touch up over the day, especially if I've been running around. I imagine if someone hugged me they'd feel secure and warm, safe and happy. It's how I feel wearing it. I tested this today while helping teach Sunday school (because, c'mon...it's only fitting), and it's a good choice for situations like that. I doubt anyone smelled anything, and if they did, it would've been just subtly during a hug or something. But when i pulled on a pad, a whole tread of roots and more pads came along, including a precious flower. I'm seeing a lot of complaints about longevity, but it does pretty ok on me, I have the EDP and not the EDT, which may be why. It lasts about 6 hours before becoming a skin scent, longer layered with the lotion. I don't notice it after a while, but I'm consistently told that I smell good by my roommate whenever I walk into the kitchen, so I'd say projection is about 4-6 feet at least for the first few hours.what I love about philosophy is the fragrances are soapy and inoffensive but have a selection of powerfully emotive notes. It’s definately not my favorite but mind you I usually only wear gourmands/oriental/spicy/green scents. I’m not really a lover of fresh scents but I grab this after a shower for the feeling of extra freshness or on a productive day. It does have a very sharp opening still, but it settles down after a minute or two. it's extremely feminine and would suit a young woman under 40 (or a youthful female) because it doesn't have the complexity or depth of a mature fragrance. for work, the soap makes it inoffensive but I personally would not wear at work for fear of not being taken seriously since its very simple and girly. I can see some people voted it was like baby grace.i have both and say no, this one has far more white florals and zingy citrus and freesia. baby grace is more musky and powdery and not zingy at all. Sillage actually isn't half-bad at first, but does settles to a skin scent. It lingers on your clothes rather well, though - jeez! I can live like a pig in these clothes for days and still smell fresh! Longevity is okay; maybe 3-4 hours?

Top is super short-lived. Citrus for literally the first 2 seconds .. so fleeting I can’t really distinguish which citrus is present. (If I had to guess, mostly bergamot?) There’s also a brief, spicy, slightly green floral note. The rest of the wear is a fairly linear mix of slightly sweet florals and powdery musk. It definitely fits in with Philosophy’s “Grace” line .. that signature “clean”/musky accord forms the base of the fragrance.I do like this perfume but I don't love it like I thought I would. I wanted a real fresh laundry smell. If anyone knows of a perfume that smells like straight up laundry please let me know about it! That being said, I'm sure it has to do a lot with body chemistry. I recall that my mother tried this, and on her it smelled like baby powder and fabric softener, a bit more clinical and even unisex. On me, it is undoubtedly feminine and fresh but in a rich, sexy way. It's the kind of scent that makes people just want to hug you and bury their face in your hair. I find it appropriate for both daytime and, in my opinion, date night, if you're the type of girl who prefers to smell sexy in a soft, intimate sort of way. Lightly and soft, yet longevity are so long (12hrs it still lingers on your skin), but poor sillage, spray on your clothes can help to show more smell
