This was an absolute delight to read and Lissa Berry's narration of the audiobook version added wonderfully to the immersive experience - a perfect casting decision! Linda’s job is to sort through all the donated handbags and clean out the sticky debris of daily living that accumulates in the little pockets and corners.

Piglet is the searing, unforgettable and original debut which is set to take readers by storm in 2024. All the tiny details, all the quiet, unnoticed edges of the world have been taken away, and it's only when they're gone you realise how much you depended on them to make sense of everything else. Although one person's distress is another person's couldn't-care-less, so I don't know how they decide which bits to take out. This is a mystery for those who enjoy the thrill of solving puzzles, rather than the thrill of the chase.Linda prides herself on being observant, on remembering details, and she’s noticed that Terry is departing from his usual schedule, one of several things that are suddenly out of the ordinary with her husband. Last year, a breakout debut novel hit the scene, and everyone fell in love with the character Molly in Nita Prose’s “The Maid”. Rumors spread of a serial killer in their midst, and both Linda and her mother, who lives nearby, are reminded of the dark past they left behind in Wales many years ago. But she’s good at solving puzzles and there are times she sees things other people might have overlooked. Whether this is a good or bad thing I’m not sure, as this book did have me quite up and down, going from 4 stars to 3.

But Linda’s unconventional ways, her views on life and friendship, and the childhood trauma that haunts her has left her a little awkward with people, which also means they tend to either dismiss her or take advantage of her. A Tidy Ending has a sinister tone from the very first sentence, and that drew me into the heart of the story. Terry isn’t perfect – he picks his teeth, tracks dirt through the house and spends most of his time in front of the TV. She always was soft in the head or Poor Linda, I often thought she was a little bit strange, because we like to cast the heroes and the villains quite early on in a story, and then everyone knows where they are.

Have a taste test of Jaffa Cakes—the chocolate orange snack that is a favorite of Linda’s—along with other British biscuits like McVitie’s Milk Chocolate Digestives and Jammie Dodgers. It’s quite an emotional rollercoaster read and frequently it’s sad as you see the impact of judgements or the past catching up with the present.
