We have a latter day Frankie Howerd type in David Millard, the Brummie of Brighella, Simon Billig, the crosspatch Jennifer Dorian, who can throw a spectacular tantrum, Lucy Ashton, disguised as a man, who relishes a dazzling swordfight, and gives such a sound beating, she had the first-night audience gasping, plus Lee Ocsko, Chris Millington, David Reed, Terry Perkins and Elaine Elliott. With a zany plot featuring lost love, mistaken identity, ravenous servants, and lots of letter mix-ups, Goldoni’s classic The Servant of Two Masters makes a wonderful addition to any theater season! Watch his face - he never admits either by word or expression that he truly believes Cowley to be guilty.

Unbeknownst to anyone, Federigo is really his sister, Beatrice, in disguise, determined to settle her brother's debts and find her love, Florindo, who fled after her brother was killed. A co-production by the RSC and the Young Vic Theatre Company, this adaptation was first performed in 1999. The rockfall blocks the mercenaries' path to Arthur, but also cuts off Merlin from the king, resulting in his capture. The stranger turns out to be Arthur's new manservant, George, who is highly efficient, albeit dull and obsequious. Merlin has the opportunity to kill Morgana but hesitates, allowing Morgana to hit him directly with her telekinesis.

The mercenaries find them as they continue their journey back to Camelot and Arthur engages them in combat.

The three tall chimneys on the right-hand side are the tell-tales here as all the other buildings in the vicinity have been replaced! When he isn’t thinking about money, he tends to focus on his child’s love-life (as in The Servant of Two Masters).Carlo Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters is rooted in the tradition of the commedia dell’arte, a highly influential form of improvisational comedy popular in Italy between the 16th and 18th centuries. The plot is full of mishaps and mix-ups, confusions, disguises and mistaken identity, before the murder and entangled romances can be resolved. His two Brecht adaptations, Mr Puntilla and his Man Matti and Mother Courage and her Children were both sell-out successes in the West End. Goldoni originally wrote the play at the request of actor Antonio Sacco, one of the great Harlequins in history.
