This again does not necessarily put it ahead of competitors but it’s good that WORX have taken advantage of what is clearly the most effective cutting system in the market.

There are six settings that range from 2cm to 8cm, but what is most interesting is that this adjustment can be made with a single easy to adjust lever – nothing makes a product more appealing than ease-of-use. Cutting Diameter This WORX WG779E.2 review is not complete if we don’t mention its cutting diameter. The cutting diameter of this machine stands at 34 centimetres, making it ideal for lawns with medium size. That is why it is perfect for cutting narrow strips in your garden. Grass Box The 4.0Ah also weighs more than the smaller, 2.0Ah so this might affect your decision if you are looking to powershare the battery with other Worx tools. While a heavier battery is not that noticeable in a mower, you might want to use the lighter 2.0Ah in things like cordless drills. However, the 4.0Ah is comparable in size and weight to the large batteries I have used on cordless drills from multiple brands and well worth the extra expense if you want the benefit or longer cutting times (a must for larger gardens). Once the height has been reduced to 30mm it is already at the maximum permitted height for a further reduction down to 20mm. So you either cut it again immediately – which also breaks the rule as it is like going from the height it was at before the reduction to 30mm all the way down to 20mm but in just one cut – or you wait until it has grown higher than 30mm when it is too long to reduce it to 20mm anyway!

Metal blades are generally sharper and provide a cleaner cut to the grass blade, resulting in a neater, tidier and superior finish to your lawn and garden. The metal blade on the WG779E.2 can be sharpened when needed unlike plastic blades. If you’re looking for a cordless lawn mower that offers the ability to create stripes on the lawn then the WORX WG743E.1, unfortunately, won’t cut it. However, if this is the only downfall, we’re confident that it isn’t the end of the world. At 34cm the steel cutting blade is suitable for small and medium lawns, although we think it works best in smaller areas up to 200m2. The blade is premium quality steel that is razor sharp, producing a pristine cut that leaves the grass looking good while encouraging healthy regrowth. As mentioned before, you can use Turbo or Eco modes to cut your lawn. I have used both and find the Eco mode is sufficient for regular summer cuts. I think I might need Turbo for the first cut after winter and would use it for cutting meadow-like lawns. Having not tested this mower on wet grass, I can't say how it performs, but based on the first mow (of a rather unruly lawn) I don't think it will struggle too much. The rotary blades are made from steel which is an extremely durable metal so you know that, even if you run into an unexpected obstacle, you’re not running the risk of causing any significant damage.

The grass box does come with a indicator flap to show you when the grass box is full, this is a nice handy feature from WORX.The consensus among other reviewers is that this is a great mower for the price, comparing well with much more expensive cordless models and not significantly more than corded or petrol mowers either. Gardeners World also granted it a Best Buy badge. For example, the 20mm setting is one of the lowest settings on any mower, meaning an incredibly close cut to the lawn. While it is recommended to use this setting all the time, people that mow frequently during peak growing season can use this setting to produce a neat and tidy cut close to the ground, like on an ornamental lawn.
