Judging by the fact that there isn't even an author listed, it looks like nothing more than an opportunity for the publisher to cash in on Halloween by releasing a book about pumpkins. Not sure if she understood the connection I was trying to make, but it did give me a jumping off point.This nonfiction board book, part of DK’s When I Grow Up series, relays eight international athletes’ journeys from childhood to triumph. Grown-ups and children can enjoy this magical Halloween book about a happy little pumpkin that will teach little trick-or-treaters not to judge others based on their appearance. Also a touch confusing that the pumpkins already seemed to be Jack O lanterns but also talked about being made scary. All of that is fine and good, but it's also a message which by now has been beaten into the ground with a hundred-thousand shovels.
