About this deal

Just an average guy who reviews a variety of products such as fountain pens, tea, coffee, hairstyle products, writing, bags, everyday-carry, knives and whatever else I can find! Usually it'll give out after a certain number of words and I'll have to give it a vigorous shake to get it going again, and then it's fine. I don’t know about everyone else in the FP community, but I like to keep the boxes the pens come in. It is said that he who learns the true number of the Jinhao models will ride the inky dragon to the great bottle in the sky.

Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors. I was recently using this while taking a class for one of my licenses and my style of writing with fountain pens is to cap it when I am finished with writing a sentence to minimize drying in the nib. Then, again, it might be my frugal nature and delight with a pen that well exceeded my expectations. In the nibs forum I was touted onto an Arkansas Stone and some micro-screen reshaping -- and will try that IF I cannot afford to fine 3 nibs that work as well as a Japanese fine in the X750, or a flex nib that flows properly on the feed.Every one of them has been blessed with a smooth nib, although I have always chosen a medium option.

Mine was a touch scratchy, but I smoothed it on some micromesh the other day, and it's improved it noticeably. At first blush, the two types of instruments seem to have opposing needs: Pencils want at least a bit of tooth, while fountain pens love to skate across smoothness. The grip is smooth black plastic with a rounded reinforcing ring at the end where the nib inserts into the grip.

If it gets scratched, broken, or lost you’re only out a few dollars rather than a larger chunk of change. As you can see, the Jinhao X750 has some great potential but it is let down by poor quality control and the cumbersome weight of its body. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Mine has been pretty good though after having it awhile I think I would have picked another color this time. Since these types of pens are not very mainstream (to my knowledge), I turned this into a game by masking the photo and asking my readers if they can identify it.

As you can see, there are plenty of things not to like about the Jinhao X750, with only a few positives.A long time ago, back in November of 2011, I posted a very short snippet about a new fountain pen that I acquired. Best of luck, I am a fountain pen freak and have too many pens and the worst thing is that I do most of my writing on a computer.

Following this, I asked on the subreddit r/fountainpens why the fountain pen community was so divided on Jinhaos. Sometimes it is very wet, sometimes drier, and once today it stopped so that even water on the nib had no effect. The Jinhao X750 Shimmering Sands is an attractive chameleon going from near black to rainbow sparkly depending on lighting conditions.

Writing: Writing is fairly smooth and consistent on everything I have tried, including Hammermill paper with edible oil product on it, my Pacon sketch book, sticky notes, and the like, and feels a little better than the Nib Creaper on all. I kept hearing great things about them and they are cheap so I ended up with four of them hoping to finally hit a winner. Still, the pattern is ingrained in the metal of the body and cap and I don't envision it coming off any time soon.
