new episodes were produced in 1990 (not by Smallfilms) with Muir narrating once more. A further 63 episodes were made in 1995 – this time in America. Early-Installment Weirdness: The first episode is presented with a framing device of Frank telling the stories of What-A-Mess from his front porch, but isn't used in any other episodes. WAM appeared in a series of ABC's well-remembered "After These Messages" bumpers a year before and during it's initial run, the animation for which was also much cleaner and more fluid. My God, What Have I Done?: What-A-Mess has a moment of this in "Only Four More Left" when he realizes that introducing Felicia to home shopping inadvertently created a monster. Cynthia - A Hedgehog which What-A-Mess befriended in What-A-Mess Goes to School. Her character was redesigned to become a mole named Ramona in the US animated version, due to the fact that Hedgehogs aren't native to America. In the US animated version, she is voiced by Candi Milo.
