It collapses down to nothing, and even extended it's extremely tiny. Plus, it's an actual mechanical zoom, none of this power zoom nonsense. Sure, it has a plastic mount and no weather sealing but I'll take that for the price, size, and image quality any day. I looked at the RX0 II as a kind of always-have-it-with-you camera since it's basically the size of a Nikon DSLR battery, which is pretty insane. The Z50 becomes the first Z-mount camera to feature a built-in flash. Nikon says that the pop-up mechanism is the main reason that the Z50 isn't considered as well weather-sealed as its full-frame siblings.

They are. I'm not sure if the in-camera stabilizer would work in conjunction with the lens VR or not - like Panasonic and some Olympus lenses. If they were forward thinking they would make it possible for them to use both, as I assume there will be a higher-end DX camera with IBIS. Though it could well be a camera body limitation. Nikon has the same mount so id you want to upgrade in the future you dont have to sell all the lenses to and of you shoot both formats you can use the same lenses but it is a Huge mount made for big sensors. Canons ef-m mount Will be a dead end for those that want to upgrade but fullformat is a pretty small segment so for most buyers it Will not be a problem. For those like me Who shoot my seriouys work with a ff camera but Would love to have a smaller and cheaper camera when i go om vacation etc Will need to buy separate lenses but on the other hand it Will be a mount made for smaller sensors so the lenses Will be more compact. And despite the big size of the Z-mount, Nikon left plenty of room between the mount and the grip to make the camera comfortable even for those with larger hands. Both cameras have electronic viewfinders, but the EVF on the Z6 – which is the more expensive of the two shooters – is both higher in resolution and size. I finally got a hands on with the Z50 in the store. It's very much a Nikon A6x00. Same shape and size, better ergonomics. I'm glad Nikon finally released the Z50. I just wish they'd released it last year or the year before. Both are excellent cameras, but if you’re on a tight budget, the Z50 offers fantastic value for money. Just got my z50 few days ago with 16-50 and FTZ. So far very impressed. AF is much better than expected and very reliable. Kit lens is sharp (didn't expect that either). Won't replace my sigma 18-35, but it might be acceptable when weight is an issue (outdoors, bicycle, skiing). I also edited some RAW samples of the 12-40 Olympus, 28-75 Tamron, 12-60 Leica/Panasonic, 16-80 Fuji and 24-70 Nikon Z6 and with the exception of the Tamron (which is full frame) I couldn't really spot a difference in the final images. Weighing in at just 450g (including battery and memory card), it’s over 200g lighter than the 675g Z6. On top of that, the 24-70mm f/4 lens for the Z6 will add another 500g to your kit bag, while the 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 kit lens for the Z50 is only 135g.
