While the illustrations in this novel felt very "Burton-esque", to me this new character didn't feel like he was designed by the same person. I think that taking something already pretty popular and trying to continue it it’s a very courageous thing to do.

The giant topiaries that Edward creates in the film were made by wrapping metal skeletons in chicken wire, then weaving in thousands of small plastic plant sprigs. Metacritic, another review aggregator, assigned the film a weighted average score of 74 out of 100 based on 19 reviews from mainstream critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". She is curious about her grandmother's stories and eventually tries to find out about Edward herself. Leth and Rausch are both huge fans of Tim Burton’s work, and loved the movie, so it’s great to know that this comic has come from talented fans that know and care about the character and his world really well.The film won the British Academy Film Award for Best Production Design and the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, in addition to receiving multiple nominations at the Academy Awards, British Academy Film Awards, and the Saturn Awards. In addition to Elfman's music, three Tom Jones songs also appear: " It's Not Unusual", " Delilah" and " With These Hands". With Edward unable to consummate his love for Kim because of his appearance, the film can also be seen as being influenced by Beauty and the Beast. As well as following the journey of Eli, the first story also introduces us to new members of the Boggs family and reintroduces us to Edward; and Although we bypass the latter years of Kim’s life, we do get to meet the family she has left behind, and follow their journey as the Boggs’ and Edward Scissorhands finally get to know one another in person.
