About this deal

This book contains a wealth of practical information for the person interested in, planning to engage in, or actively engaged in the ministry of deliverance. Hammond quotes scripture quite a lot and seems in no doubt about what he is teaching through this book. He even makes a large – but he says incomplete – list of all the demons he has encountered in his ministry – which is a lot of types, and explains that there is the potential to get a demon of just about anything! I don’t know what to think about that last assertion or how Biblical it is. The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Seriously, folks, go get your Bible and just read it instead of wasting your money on something like this. Plain and simply, it’s a false teaching you should avoid like the plague.

The scripture does not suggest that new Christians are automatically exempt from all the consequences of what happened to them before they became believers. Consider a woman who suffers from chronic sinusitis caused by bacteria. She becomes a Christian but the sinusitis continues. The natural explanation would be that the sinusitis is still caused by the same bacteria. No one would dispute that conclusion on doctrinal grounds. Now let us consider a man who has severe emotional problems caused by demons. The man becomes a Christian but the problems continue. Is there any scriptural reason to question that his emotional problems are still caused by demons?Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!”* [26] The evil spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.* The deliverance of a 3 month old baby who suffered from 'tormenting spirits' which found a doorway when his parents were arguing over how to discipline him...I mean, I don't have kids myself but do you discipline 3 month old babies? are they not still nothing more than yodeling potatoes at that point? what can a 3 month old do that requires disciplining? In essence they say, we should be following the model of Jesus in carrying out deliverance and doing it like Jesus did it to ourselves and others – casting out any demons we find. That’s what this book is all about.

Nothing can be really be said other than what other people have said, it’s just 1970’s rambling religious jargon about the world. 1 million copies in print isn’t all that impressive when you literally renew and republish every year to try and make people choke on what you’re selling. Both authors are apparently Christians with degrees from Baptist colleges who orchestrate out of Texas. What a surprise. I wish I could say that I have experienced all the mighty miracles that He did when He was on earth, but I can’t. Just like you, I am a work in progress; growing stronger in the grace, knowledge and power of Jesus Christ, going from glory to glory. Wherever you are in your journey, be hopeful, not discouraged. He desires for us to know who we are in Him, His power that is there for the taking — never in condemnation, only out of love for us. Receive it, grow in it, be ready to have Him take you to places you never thought possible. No matter what, as I’ve learned with Him, the journey is all worth it. Oh don’t worry the book weaves in about how lust, masturbation, homosexuality, etc. are all terrible. They talks about how other cults are bad like Jehovah witnesses and Christian science and “others.” It also brings up the occult like Ouija boards, handwriting analysis, astrology, witchcraft, it really just is a stereotype filled book. Literally has a section about false religions and then naming every religion that isn’t their own. A book written by bigots for bigots. He once expelled demons from a childs mobile which had pictures of a frog and some owls on it (demons quite like frogs and owls apparently)Hammond taught that ethical issues such as resentment and gossiping – together with issues such as compulsive eating, forgetfulness, sexual problems, and mental illness – may be caused by demons requiring deliverance ministry, and that such individuals may require such deliverance. [1] [2] [3] He and his wife Ida Mae have been called "perhaps the most influential practitioners of deliverance ministry." [2] Their 1973 book Pigs in the Parlor: A Practical Guide to Deliverance is one of the most influential on the topic, [2] [3] and has sold over a million copies. [1] So what else is there? Well helpfully and interestingly there are chapters on ‘Seven ways to determine the Need for Deliverance’ ; ‘Seven Steps to Deliverance’ and ‘spiritual warfare’ is discussed in various ways. The book seems somewhat self-aware, pretty much blaming negativity or bad emotions on demons and calling them such. It will make a cliché Bible passages that have really nothing to do with the paragraphs being discussed. I want to say that the authors are aiming to help people but they’re going about it all wrong with a kind of holier-than-thou mentality. Jesus taught us to love our enemies. It heaps coals of fire upon their heads. That is, it purifies their minds.” These people sound scary, almost as scary as an autonomous woman or gay immigrant. Amiright (dadumtiss) In the Gospels, the symptoms of those who had a demon included extreme strength, epileptic-like fits, self-destructive behavior, screaming, and revulsion at Jesus Christ (a symptom no Christian can have). Compare some of the symptoms that Hammond says are common in people who have a demon: worry, procrastination, gossip, caffeine addiction, and the like (28-29). In fact, these things supposedly *are* demons. Also on the list of nearly 300 demons are stubbornness, shyness, daydreaming, discouragement, headache, retardation, forgetfulness, heartache, embarrassment, sexual frigidity, and intellectualism (113-15). I suppose I have the last-mentioned demon. Ignorance and stupidity, however, did not make the list.
