The Barista Express is a bit more aimed towards the mainstream market, and they expect Barista Express users to be using “normal” mainstream coffee beans. They recommend the dual-walled pressurised baskets for this kind of coffee (coffee with a sell by date but no roasted on date) and as a result, they've set the over-pressure valve to fire off at about 13-14 bars. The Barista Express, and all the other Sage machines except the Dual Boiler & the Oracle range, have a 54mm group and therefore 54mm portafilter. Pressurized portafilters (generally) do not need tamping down Brush the edges of the filter basket off so there are no stray coffee grounds to get into the threads of the brew head. I prefer the look of the La Specialista Arte to the Breville Barista and Barista Max +, I might even prefer the look slightly to the Barista Express, being honest, it does look nice, and the build quality feels better than the Breville Barista Max & Max+ in my opinion.Why did it do so well? Having problems with the grinder either not grinding fine/coarse enough? From what I've seen, everyone's grinder seems wildly different in calibration. Some people grind around 1-4, while I grind around 8-11, which seems way too much difference to just be the different beans we use. There is an upper burr adjustment on this machine, which lets you go finer or coarser than standard. Search Google for some good videos on how to do it. It's easy and takes 5 minutes. They're a bit messy where grinding is concerned, the “tap and go” grinding feature is a bit of a joke, as you have to hold it down, so how is that tap and go? But they're cheap, and I've not seen any Sage Barista Express alternatives that I think are any better.

What does Breville Barista Express come with?

On the plus side, this newer faster ThermoJet means the Barista Pro has a faster 3 second heat up time, faster steam ready time, faster shot ready time after steaming milk, and I think it's probably a bit more energy efficient if you're only making one or two coffees within the same 20-30 minute window.
