The basic geography of Whitsborough Bay is a match for Scarborough. All the businesses and attractions have different names in Whitsborough Bay such as the Sealife Centre being the Sea Rescue Sanctuary and Peasholm Park becoming Hearnshaw Park, but anyone familiar with Scarborough will recognise these places in Whitsborough Bay. They can also make a good guess which café or shop I’m being inspired by when I talk about my fictional venues. Having really enjoyed Searching for Steven, I was very curious to see what Jessica Redland's new book would be like. Imagine my delight when I see that it centres around Elise, who is Sarah's best friend, and as a result we get to see more of Sarah who I really liked in the first book, and more of various characters that I already knew. I might be a bit biased because I am a big fan of the author. In my opinion all her book are fa-bu-lous.

Ruby is certain her grandson would be perfect for Callie but Callie is unsure if he even exists. He never seems to show up when Ruby is expecting him and Callie hates to think of her being disappointed. Jessica Redland is already becoming for me a drop everything and read author, I had the book less than 24 hours before I had to start it, If you haven't taken note of this author yet and tried her you are missing out. I am starting to firmly believe she is destined for big things. Tara is mending a broken heart. So when she decides it's time for a change, she ups and moves to Whitsborough Bay, where she comes across The Chocolate Pot Café. This book was originally published as two novellas, but as I listened to this one, I would never had known they were not one story. They were seamlessly put together and I enjoyed this one as much as the others I have read in the series. This story is about Callie, a young lady who lost her father when she was young. It seems she is still looking for a father figure as she only dated older men. She is falling for Tony, a man several years her senior. The only problem is, he is quite happy with things the way they are. When Callie finds out not only is he cheating on her, but he is married with four children. She dumps him and when he loses his job, he blames Callie. Fortunately, Callie has a white knight in the form of Rhys, the grandson of Callie's favourite resident at Bay View Ruby. Meanwhile, Callie wants to help Ruby find her lost love, and the father of her son, Rhys' father. While many of her books would be labelled as romantic-comedies on the surface, Redland would seek to explore deeper ideas through her work. This has seen her produce several series set in around her home in Yorkshire, along with a collection of memorable characters too. Gaining a lot of recognition for her work, she has plenty more ideas planned in the pipeline, as she continues writing for some time to come.

Danniella's story was the best one of the three. You could feel the anxiety and pain she was going through. You never were really sure what it was about until she finally reveals her secret. At first you think it's the bulimia but it is so much deeper and so much more painful. Her story was, IMO, the most well thought out and realistic of the three. Her story truly had an arc. Her ending was actually a new beginning and it was the best possible outcome for her. Honestly, if this whole book had been just about her, I would've been ok with it.

It would be 2015 when Jessica Redland would finally publish her first novel titled ‘New Beginnings At Seaside Blooms.’ This would see her produce a succession of books, many of which would go on to create several long-running series. These would include recurring themes and locations, as she’d largely draw from her own Yorkshire setting to help inspire her. I loved Alison from the very beginning, and hurt for her: Karen with her professional and efficient veneer took a little longer, and Danniella’s secrets made her intriguing but initially more difficult to understand. By the book’s close, I loved them all unconditionally: the powerful friendship that develops between them is so well drawn, with their support for each other as they try to find themselves, and work out what will bring them the happiness they all deserve. The main character is obsessed with sugar daddies and overthinks every comment her current sugar daddy makes even when he is not calling her fat (size 16) she keeps going on about her weight. I’m sorry, not sorry actually but if you have a problem with your weight – whatever weight you are – DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Instead of moping about and complaining. Aside from her body image issues it was interesting to learn about Ruby’s life experiences. They are funny, romantic and this one really has some devastating revelations. It's also very nice to reconnect with a few characters from other books.This is the second book I've read by Redland, and I really like her light style of writing. Everything feels so real, and normal, but entertaining nonetheless. Alison is feeling trapped in her life with Dave - he was there for her at the beginning when she needed him, but now he's constantly on at her about her weight (I have to admit to wanting her to thump him on more than one occasion!!) and taking her for granted. So she comfort eats to stop feeling so bad - and so the cycle of hate and pity continues. But one day she finds herself helping a jogger who has fallen over, and this new friendship spurs her on to make changes in her life. When I’m writing my Whitsborough Bay books, I might talk about the sweet smells of doughnuts and candy floss mingled with the coconut of sun lotion and I might talk about the hum of the jet boat on the sea over cries of gulls and squeals of children. Instantly, readers are transported to the beach and can hear, smell and even taste the setting. I really don't think you would have guessed at most of it if you tried, but slowly you get a picture of just what has made Tara the person she is today, while at the same time you see fabulous character development from her, and as the reader get a full idea as to what Tara is really like. This story is about Callie’s yearning to have a partner who may want marriage and settle down. She finds herself dealing with betrayal, a boyfriend who is not as he seems and a resident Ruby who seems to be reminiscing and as Callie digs deeper she cannot help herself trying to matchmake but will her efforts be appreciated?. Secrets get revealed and there maybe a chance at love right under her feet. The trouble is real love never runs smoothly. This is book one of a series which I will endeavour to read.
