There is a small amount of self assembly involved and although it's pretty straight forward when it came to securing the small support from the base to the tower the screw point did not line up and although it appears to be quite steady, I would have preferred to secure it with the screw. The remote control is a good thing too, but I sleep about a foot away from it, so I can switch it on/off manually. cheap, it feels like most of the money spent is on the fan, which is good, and thankfully it appears good enough to support the tower fan.
