The characters were excellently portrayed and the story developed at a decent pace and kept you reaching for the book again and again to see how it would all tie together in the end.It was obvious from the beginning that someone in the family would kill Aiden and I thought it would be Jade Dixon. What I didn’t like were how the power slowly starts to corrupt him and with that comes unsavoury behaviour towards both his girlfriend and his family. The novels written by her have successfully achieved the sale of more than 10 million in the United Kingdom alone.As a massive fan of Martina Cole books and having read/loved the previous Kate Burrow books 1 to 3, I couldn't read to lose myself into this fourth story featuring DI Kate Burrows. I did read all of the bad reviews but still thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt, all I can say is I only paid 99p and I think that is still to much. Her repetitiveness in this book was highly noticeable and some of the side plots seemed pointless after reading the rushed ending. But again, like many others, I have been left disappointed with her more recent work and I have to say that ‘Get Even’ was no exception to that. A perplexing story which was perplexing until it was solved- just like that - the denouement happens on a single page then it ended.
