The camera feels well built and robust. It is completely covered in grippy rubber around the edges, which means it should withstand being dropped from child height. The two grips are great for little fingers, enabling kids to hold the camera comfortably with both hands.

And, if paired with a smartphone it can share printed images straight to social media and even be used to print photos that have been taken on the phone. In my case, we bought a Kidizoom Due for our 5-year-old daughter, and she loves it despite being barely able to operate it. In contrast, when my son was around the same age, he inherited an old Canon Powershot A620 – a vastly superior camera that in my opinion – is easier to use. The Vtech Kidizoom Duo is not an easy camera to use. For instance, the Kidizoom is burdened with multi-tier menus and twelve separate control points – some of which integrate multiple functions. As a result, the Kidizoom Due is no easier to use than my wife’s Sony A5000.On the bottom of the camera there is a micro USB port for connecting the camera to the computer and a MicroSD card slot to expand the memory. In itself, the Vtech Kidizoom Duo is a well-made product with a very generous feature set. I also get the feeling a lot of love went into its design. However, the Kidizoom Duo does have some problems. Image Quality For beginners there are fully automatic modes, including intelligent scene settings for food photography, night photography, sports and more. For users looking to expand their creativity, there are also manual modes and onboard creative filters. The 2000D also offers Full HD video recording and can connect to your smartphone over Wi-Fi using the Canon Connect app. Overall, the Vtech Kidizoom Duo is a fantastic idea to get younger children interested in photography. Not only does it keep them engaged, with fun noises and modes, it also lets them explore creatively and develop photographic skills. When they get bored of the camera function, they can also play games, making it a great choice for a day out. They'll be able to capture memories for themselves, and keep themselves amused no matter where you go.

The only thing to keep in mind is the cost of the film. Polaroid i-Type film can be a little costly, so this camera is best suited to older children who can pace their shots. But in the long run, 256MB is not enough, and you’ll need to invest in a card for Kidizoom’s Micro SD slot.
