A pesar de lo anterior, me pareció que tenía unos puntos muy buenos. Por ejemplo, la discusión que se formó sobre el rol de los dioses y su participación en la vida humana. Es un tema recurrente en Sanderson, la deidad y la religión y aquí volvió a tocar el tema, claro que lo hizo con un tono de broma, pero el trasfondo me pareció profundo. Por otro lado, el arco del personaje me pareció lo mejor del libro (la media estrella es solo por eso), me encantó el proceso de intentar descubrir quién era, para luego intentar descubrir quién quería ser. Los mensajes relacionados a la dignidad, al luchar por lo que se quiere, a no huir y todo eso me parecieron muy bellos. De verdad que solo por el protagonista disfruté este libro.

It has elements of the Sanderson I love to read, the Sanderson I described first, the Sanderson who birthed a Cosmere full of planets with unique magic systems that didn't seem connected at all until suddenly they were. Like those stories, there IS a compelling world in this book. It's not part of the Cosmere, but it could almost be our world if only our pagan gods were real and the events in our history had played out a bit differently. I wanted to know more about this version of Europe that he'd created! I mean, Christianity is consolidated into Zoroastrianism?! As a historian, I want to play in a sandbox where that is reality! This is the perfect book to read when you’re down with a nasty cold. It’s fun, it’s easy and it allows the brain to take a much-needed break. Unfortunately - and as a disclaimer, it may be that aforementioned nasty cold talking - it goes on a bit too long on a bit of a one-note joke. As I thought of it, by instinct, I brought up a display that hung in my vision, visible only to me. It listed my platings, and their status. Looking at that…I had platings from the tips of my fingers all the way up to my elbows. It also worked for force-redistribution and gave me some strength advantages, mostly in gripping ability. That said, although the technicality was annoying – I was aware of their quality, but simply couldn’t make the drawings dark enough to fully appreciate them – it wasn’t a dealbreaker. Overall, this is an entertaining timeslip tale ideal for fans of adventures full of incident and action, with a believable character on his own personal journey in the middle of the mayhem.
